Guys, I require, well, would HIGHLY appreciate with my fullest, if you could spend some time for the next few days, either praying, or at least hope (as in huffy's saying) for a situation of mine. I have a friend who is dying, and will die unless he manages to get a marrow transplant, and finding a proper marrow donor is incredibly difficult. Some people never get anyone to donate because the body will not accept a transplant unless 6 specific antigens are corresponding from the donor and the recipient. I admit, I am very poor when it comes to religion, hell I even cuss God out at times and I never ask for forgiveness. I sin, and don't care about it. But I have been praying so my friend can live. I am going to get my blood tested soon, to check if my antigens are compatible with his so I can give him my marrow. I wish that I can do something worthwhile, I want to be able to help him out. I always complain that my life sucks at times, but hell I am healthy and always have been unlike him. He's been fighting with leukemia his entire life and it's finally hitting him hard. I know it may seem pointless to you, but as lame as it sounds I know with my heart miracles are possible and I am expecting one to happen very soon. I'm only asking, you don't have to do anything. I'd just really appreciate it. |

These kinds of things happen to millions of people everyday, but that doesn't mean you can't stop it from happening. For your friend's sake, I hope he'll be alright. As for you, if god actually does exist, I doubt he would care. You're simply being yourself, any god that punishes you for that is nothing you should worship. |

I hope he gets a donor, and recovers. I wish I could help, I know the pain of losing someone close to you. |

well if you ever want to see your freind again, im sure you know what to do... and God forgives anyone no mater what they have done., the only thing he asks is that youll accept him and repent(meening try harder to stop doing it and dont do it again) If you accept God and ask him to help you and your freind and your sincere....God will answer The best thing to do is tell your freind so that if he accepts, he will goto heaven...and im sure if he does he will want to see you there :) |

Woah dude, that's, erm, kinda something you don't want to say to some people. Most people aren't very religous, and some of them with get mad at you if you mention religion. Not that it's bad to expression one's feelings and beliefs, just be careful about saying certain things. And I'm pretty sure Ina doesn't want to tell his friend to accept God, because he might die; that's not very incouraging. Lets just hope/pray that Ina's friend gets better. |

I will hope that your friend will heal from his condition. Surely, a miracle may just happen if we all hope and pray for his recovery. |

I hope for your friend's very best, that by some chance a miracle will happen, and save his life. If any god takes pity god will save him. And I don't just mean God, I mean every single type of god out there. Mithros, I pray for him to recover. I believe in karma. If he well, doesn't make it, I wish him the very best in his next life. |

I hope that your friend will live. I've lost more than one family member (five, actually) to disease, and my own dad to a broken neck, not to mention one of my best friends back home who I discovered had died a few months ago. Stay strong, Ina, and don't give up hope no matter what. Oh, also, SBD, some of us don't believe a God exists. I especially don't after what's happened to me, so be careful what you say, you've already somewhat offended me. |

Get to find out tomorrow, so yeah. As you *should* be able to guess, I am scared out of my mind. That's really the only way I can find to describe it. Thanks guys for your care. If anything, I just hope a donor will be available for my friend. As long as he can live, I am content. |

I hope for the best and pray for you and your friend, Ina-san. It's my belief that as long as you believe in someone or something positive, you'll pull through. (I'm a Christian myself, but I don't get all uber-religious on people. Those kind of people actually annoy me. A lot.) |

Er, not happy at all about this. I couldn't have been a worse match up to donate marrow to him. -____- That's like a slap in my face ya know? I'm not happy about this but I'm hoping that someone will come around who is capable and willing to. |

What's involved in a transplant? If I understand what's going on, I might offer my marrow.... with permission from my mum and stuff of course, but I live halfway across the world. |

Ah, I'm deeply touched by the concern. First you have to get your blood tested. There are 6 antigens inside of the blood (produced from the marrow) and all 6 must match from donor to recipient. Only 2 of mine matched with his, so even if for some weird reason they transplanted I would kill him. Now if all 6 antigens can match then what they do to extract marrow is stick a very large needle into your hip. However I was constantly told that the recipient goes through much more pain than the donor, but it must hurt still, because they told me had I donated marrow for any purpose I'd feel discomfort, which in ALL cases means it is going to hurt...alot... Well that's how they extract it. No one has ever told me how they put it in. |

A needle?!?! A NEEDLE?!?!?! O_O Is it long term pain for the donor or what? I hope they give them that numb stuff.... I would like to get my blood tested and see, but..... I live in NZ! So does the marrow grow back for the donor? And do they replace the marrow in the recipient? Wikipedia: Transplantation and engraftment HSC are infused into the blood stream of the recipient through an intravenous (i.v.) catheter, like any other i.v. fluid. The HSC briefly circulate in the blood stream and then into the bone marrow spaces where they grow and start to produce blood cells. After several weeks of growth in the bone marrow, expansion of HSC and their progeny is sufficient to normalize the blood cell counts and alleviate the need for red blood cell and platelet transfusions. |
