Well, production takes a lot of people, just look at the credits on a typical anime.
You have to be dedicated to it, and depends on where you are gonna work.
Ask Beeg for advice.

For some reason, people don't like Anime that comes from places that isn't Japan (Cases in point: Avatar and Code Lyoko [Even though I like Code Lyoko. But I'm weird XD]). So, move to Japan XD

SIMON, TAKE IT!
making an animated show the traditional way takes ALOT of work, for my really crappy animations it takes months, it might be faster if i spent every day working on them, but
you have to beable to sit or 6 hours, re-drawing the same picture over and over.
if you dont have the patcience for tings that take a long time, dont do the actualy animating

Well, do you mean drawing or conceptual or both?

To get good at drawing, the best thing is probably to practice and to be able to improve on your older work just through constant practice and by recognizing faults in the older pics.

To get good storylines... takes a bit more thought. I'm really not sure what I could say on that. It's generally considered good for the audience to be able to relate in some form without it getting boring and rehashed. Different to be interesting and to grab attention, but not so out there that your audience has no idea what's going on.

It generally helps to listen to (and being able to handle) constructive criticism and to put it to use if you think it will help. Don't get so caught up in the words of others that you start to lose sight of your own vision.

Makoto Shinkai did "Hoshi no Koe" aka "Voices of a Distant Star" I think in the span of six or nine months. It's only just under thirty minutes, but it's generally well liked (I believe he also has gotten a few awards for it and others), so it's not out of the question to do an entire animation oneself...

I think I'm beginning to ramble, so I'm going to stop for now.

^Agree'd.

And I don't think that you should rely on material in a show to make it popular. Just because a show has a catgirls/vampires/sweatdrops/japanese things innit doesn't make it good. I hate that, actually. I thin storyline is better than image. But the image would have to be pleasing to the eye in order to make it interesting. So, I just nulled out my own opinion there. X3

Anyway, LordIllian, make a stupid ignorant comment like that again, I might destroy you. I hate how people say Japan is 'so much cooler than any other friggin country'. It's great and all, but guys, it's not a holy land. Good material come from good minds. That's why most cartoons went downhill when new directors stepped in, like what they did to the powerpuffgirls when craig stopped and ryan directed it. *shakefist*

..... Crap, I just did random-off-topic ranting, didn't I?

I thought Illian was saying people don't like it when a non-japanese person tries to make anime instead of animation. Still, MegaBok, you might want to try the route anime makes and just make a comic book instead. If it's good, it should become popular and you might be able to get a company to pay you for the rights to get a production team to copy your style and make a cartoon out of it.

Thanks soo much for the advices people! Oh and in case you didnt know... i.ve been practising my drawings for 5 years now... so now i can draw Manga/Anime style really good!... i wish i had a scanner.... i suck at drawing on a laptop.... And I LIKE MAKING VAMPIRE COMICS!! Well i dont REALLY make alot of comics.. just two!

I was doing a script of the series i.m gonna work on as a grown up but i took it all out since

1. People didnt seem to check any other FanFics in the FF section...

2. Because they ALWAYS look at Ina's Boktai 2 parody.. they NEVER take the chance to atleast look at the others... not even my story *cries* Comedy isnt EVERYTHING people!! Mine was very dramatic!

3. Also taken out due to a high risk of people STEALING my idea.

Just look for a poll called and you.le see what i mean.....

Make friends with people who have cool voices.

Voice actors are imperative to animation. I should know; Mel Blanc's my hero. I hope to be a great voice actor one day as well.

It SHOULD have a plot. Anything WITHOUT a plot kills me. There wouldn't really be anything worth waiting for that much.

Dunno what to say about the opening...

And can you teach me how to make vampire-biting scenes? I do NOT know how to draw that. It always ends up looking.....

...............

Just teach me.

Stop being so naive as to think you can draw all that on your own.

Well, then again, with all the shortcuts and other stuff that happens in animation as technology improves, it might get to the point where one person could feasibly do an entire series by themselves, of course there would be a resultant loss in quality, but most people wouldn't care.
