Welcome, beta testers. Here are some guidelines to use when going over the script:

Formatting
- Each text box is limited to 3 lines of 28 characters each. Narrative screens can have lines of up to 30 characters. When working directly with the script, a monospace (fixed-width) font will be helpful.
- Leave 4 extra characters of space in any line containing <NAME>, to leave room for expansion.

Punctuation
- There should be a colon after every name at the beginning of a dialogue, and quotation marks surrounding each character's words.
- After an ellipsis, lines that start a new thought should be capitalized.

Continuity
- If you notice any lines that are very similar to lines from a previous game, especially during flashback scenes, please convert them to the official Konami translation.
- Characters should use the same dialects and mannerisms they do in previous games. Feel free to select different word choices if you believe the character would say the line in a different way. Citations from previous games would be particularly helpful.
- Check references to events in previous games for consistency.

Readability
- Feel free to rewrite lines to sound more natural, so long as the meaning still gets across.

Script Markup
- $E: translated normally, fair game
- $U: marked as uncertain, pay special attention to these
- $C: check for consistency (usually names or suspected reused lines)
- $X: raw data, ignore
- $H: used in screens that still need to be hacked, ignore

Submitting Your Edits
- When you are ready to submit suggestions, post the line number followed by the proposed new contents for the line.
- If you've changed multiple lines in a single dialogue, you only need to provide the number for the first line.

SORRY! My connection died the day I got that patch. Very luckily, I managed to download it before I lost the connection, so I've been playing it. I'm on my second playthrough, right before Ratatosk. I dunno if I did this right, but here are my edits:

8709: but not in indoor areas,
where the sun's light
doesn't shine.

8878: "Be careful..."

5730: The world... shall end."

5736: If your Dark Matter stays in
command like this, will you
destroy the world?

5746: "Same as always, messenger of
the Sun, Otenko...

5782: "Let's go, <NAME>!

4107: "I didn't give up hope... I
even took care of your
house...

4110: "Nice going, making a little
girl cry..."

4306: <NAME>, make your
preparations, and let's get
going!"

4191: <LABEL=COFFIN>Coffin Shopkeeper</LABEL>:
"The Coffin Bike is composed
of various parts.

3096: If ya ever need accessories,
you know where to come,
dude."

3218: They'll help you study the
basics of SOLARSMITH."

3373: Not fully translated.

3737: But yer gotta pay back what
yer borrow, kay? So use
it wisely."

5947: a human can't possibly win
against an Immortal, right?"

5951: Though there's no one like
that in the world I'm from."

5998: Prepared to kill your
brother?"

6006: "I'm Future Boy Trinity,
treasure hunter!

6056: "Incineration of the Dark
Matter,

6059: Good work,
Solar Boy <NAME>!"

6081: Not translated.

7669: My mom's...
last words.

7696: Translated in the script, but not ingame.

7697: Not translated.

7699: Not translated.

7708: "Ratatosk the Puppeteer!
We've finally cornered you!"

7779: Now to summon the Pile
Driver and purify him!" (Not sure about this one, though)

7784: "Okay, I'll summon the Pile
Driver!"

1798: Uwah hah hah hah hah!"

8101: "Th-that was...!?"

8125: I can't let any more people
be sacrificed!"

3804: why don't you
try to get to level 99?"

6437: Sabata is somewhere in
here..."

6470: Shall we go, <NAME>?"

6859: who...
am I?"

6864: "I don't believe it... me...
a Moon Beauty...

6868: But if I do, then it must be
from Carmilla...

3006: "That Ancient Tree you
helped,

3555: "Looks like you took down a
Wanted monster, <NAME>!

3564: The reward for defeating the
Golem + is an accessory worth
400 Soll. (This cuts off after the t in worth and again before 400, making the text go out of the box *pic*)

3560: The reward for defeating the
Mummy + is an accessory worth
300 Soll. (same thing as above)

6497: "I'm sorry, Carmilla.

4548: "Ready?
????? (Not sure what to do about this one, as I don't know what it means.)

6619: Roar, Gun Del Hel! (Hel is spelled Hell a lot, looking at the script. Are you using it instead of Hel?)

7865: I was given the Gun Del Hel
to use,

2595: <NAME>'s older brother, brought up as the Dark Boy to use the Gun Del Hell by his fake mother, the Queen. Inherited the power of the Moon Beauty and the Moonlight Scarf from his real mother, Mani.

6623: Let's go! Let's go,
let's go, let's go!
Let's go, <NAME>!

6707: "Oh, what's that yer sayin'?

9123: first head south, towards
the bow, and check out the
helm." (cuts off the textbox, the whole first line is blank)

7471: Not translated.

9217: It's the place with lava,
slippery floors, and 3 types
of Hounds,

7471: Not translated.

4367: "It looks like we're headed
for the Dark Castle again...

3337: Shows Smith/LABEL> instead of just plain Smith.

5368: "I am the third Blackbeard
Brother, Jack.

5379: "I am the second Blackbeard
Brother, George.

5390: "I am the eldest Blackbeard
Brother, John.

5324: Ready for judgement?"

3407: You need sunlight in order
to recharge your energy,

4216: "Bike Options are special
parts,

If I did it wrong, just say so. I took screenshots of most of the errors, so I can probably do them again.

No, good job so far. I mean, it'd be nice if you gave the lines in numerical order just to make it easier to scroll through, but that's about it.

Not fully translated.
You don't need to tell me about Japanese text in any lines that are marked $U - those lines are marked $U precisely because I couldn't fully translate them. Still looking for more fluent people to look those over... what I meant in the OP was to make sure they fit logically with the rest of the lines. Just keep an eye out for for anything that sounds out of place, really.

Pretty sure Hel is the woman and Hell is the gun. That's what Huffy told me, anyway.

Okay, I applied most of your suggestions, but I didn't see any difference with 5736 and 6081 looks fine to me =\.

6081... I guess I spaced out when I did that. Anyway, the problem with 5766 was that there was a line of numbers on the top line. I took those out and posted it.

Still on my second playthrough, trying to unlock all the stuff I can (Can't get Viva En Rose, or whatever it's called though, 'cause of the patch T_T). I only found a few more, so far.

8357: "Goodbye, <NAME>.

8494: Has a problem with the text running out of the box, a pretty bad one.

1327: Also has one. Maybe:
Move the <WEIGHT>{{}Control Pad</WEIGHT> to transfer solar
energy.

Not really sure about that last one, though.

Ah, a line of numbers. I use that as a guide for checking line width. I probably removed it myself before I checked your corrections.

Anyway, fixed 8357, but there's nothing wrong with the other lines. Sure you're using a fresh copy of the game when you patch?

I just unzipped a new file, downloaded the translation patch again and it's still there. I'll show screenshots:

And there's also these (which I also just checked):

(Hooray for sadism... Wait, this isn't a joke.)

Then, here's one that wasn't in the one I used before. I checked the script, but it's not there either... Strange.

Oh god, there are only 2 lines of space for those boxes? D'oh.

Can you upload a save state for that last one? I'll investigate further.

Sure, I'll edit this post in a second, uploading it now.

Also...

3944: Ennio's name is missing, there's just a colon there.

Edit: http://download.yousendit.com/56FBA4A0288FBD60 for your pleasure.

Edit: Posted Image

I must be the greatest biker in the world... I also tried a bike race, but it won't come up... Might just be my problem, though.

Edit #3:

3220: "Forge something?"

Okay, the name entry patch was causing those problems. I've removed it from the compilation patch until Spike can take a look at it. I also took the liberty of moving over the SP so it doesn't run up against the weapon names. New patch is up.

Edit: I need to find a way to reduce the 3-day delay for Dark Loans. No idea if it'll even keep track of that, and it's going to take forever to see all of the punishment lines otherwise...

It looks like the clock accounts for the passage of time while playing, but that's it.

So, I guess someone could leave the thing open for 3 days straight to get to the Punishment Room.

I'm sure there's a more creative solution...but for this one, I know there's an option on VBA to keep the game going even when it's minimized.

IIRC, you have to set it up every time you play, so the clock is screwy. Here's what to do:

1) Take cash from dark loans
2) Talk to Ennio and set the clock three days ahead, so you get punished.
3) Do your punishment
4) Save (not a state, but actually save)
5) Restart game. It'll make you set the clock again. Ennio won't realize it's the same day as a result.
6) Repeat steps 1-5 until you get the sword.

If this doesn't work, I'll tell you my other way.

But the sunlight patch won't work if you restart the game. I already told you that, when I started my usual complaining about the problems in my life.

Restart as in close the emulator and reopen it, not as in start a new game...

...That's exactly what I was saying. The patch won't work then.

Edit: It must've been the patch I was using. I tried doing it again, and it strangely works... Whatever, I've got the weapon now and let me say, thank god for autofire.

(Also, that whole story was hilarious, I even recorded it!)
