Pandora's Blood - OOC; Obviously, the OOC thread

Again. OOC, clearly.

An idea of what I'm looking for...

A medic, if anyone wants to play it. (Obviously there'd be immediate action required on their part :P)

Maybe one or two 'civilians' - somebody totally nonspectacular. Though that may change...

And at least one other drifter. (Which is what the woman I'm playing is.)

A little info... This takes place in a post-apocalyptic setting (obviously). The time period is similar to one not too far in our future, though the planet is not earth, nor is it related to earth.

Magic was nonexistent, before pandora's box was opened. It's being discovered now, as if it only recently came into being.

Another note... Guns don't hurt these things. Conventional bullets bounce right off. a blade would work better, but still wouldn't do much. It'd be a lot easier to kill one with a blade though. Obviously, there's something special about this girl.

EDIT: Another note, again. There's no people with magic right now, though. Magic exists, but it's pretty much unknown. She'll be the first anyone's seen of such abilities. Just why will come out in the story.

EDIT2: Also, the shelter is the only building. it's like an all-enclosed town, in one huge freaking building.

so yeah. she'll wake up in whatever passes for the medical station of the shelter. wounds bandaged, adhesive tape applied to her ribs to keep them immobilized, and for the sake of the thing a bandage wrapped 'round her head.

and because I couldn't figure out a way to point it out tastefully in this post, he be black. He also be named Robert.

You have to love the ordinary guys who get themselves thrown into unordinary situations. Guys like Chaim Eiluit, who are just trying to help rebuild what has been destroyed, to give back what has been taken away, who are trying to defend their friends and just step up to be the kind of guys that are needed in these times. He isn't really sure if what he does makes a difference, if he is helpful, if he really protects people or if it is just some delusional ideal that gives him a reason to pretend he is useful, but either way he does what he does because someone needs to do it.

And he does everything, at least everything he can. He helps rebuild what he can, helps to make weapons in attempts to set up a better defense for the guards that have stepped up to try to defend that village, a guard unit which he is also involved in and in what other time he has left to himself, he reads and helps to teach children. He is the all-around good guy and while he is very skilled at all of these things that he does, he lacks having anything to tie him to this world, no reason to live other than to keep doing these things. His happiness is a facade, his reason for living is to help others live only so that he has a reason to live. His life is meaningless.

Pretty much waiting for TD at this point, I think, since he's the only one that has immediate access and is likely already in there

I imagine most of her gear would have been removed. If not, TD, correct me on that and I will fix it.

Yes, it would have. He had to bind her ribs, remember.

Okay, it's up. Feel free to respond in whatever manner you wish, regardless of how suicidal it may be. A few things not otherwise mentioned...

First, by this time, everyone else is outside the shelter. It's basically empty.

Second, you may try to leave, but you're not going to get very far. You'll be stopped before you can get halfway down the hall outside, so if your character would try that, just don't end the post with them any further than that.

Third, have fun. ;-)

Robert bez daid.

Marcus "Caesar" Mackenzie
Age: 28
Physical stats: 5'11", brown hair with blonde highlights, curly. Except he keeps it cut short, basically shaves it down to almost bald whenever it starts getting too long. A slim build, the kind that would make him look like a toothpick, except he works out and has muscle on that frame. Green eyes on a smooth-lined face, which makes him look a lot younger than he IS when he lets the hair grow out. Which is why he keeps it cut short.

Also, a permanent shadow on his face. He tries to be clean-shaven, but when all you have to shave with is a machete, that doesn't work out so well.

Attire is military camo pants, a camo jacket, and a white tanktop. Clothing is a bit sparse. You use what you have, and you keep it in good shape. Which also means trading for thread and learning how to patch your own clothes. Also has a pair of dogtags on a chain around his neck. They were his uncles.

Guns: his personal guns are a Colt Single Action Army Revolver (.45), a Winchester Model 1912 shotgun, and M16A1 assault rifle, and a CheyTac Intervention sniper's rifle (extreeeeeme loooong raaaange).

The guns the Legion uses? Rifles, shotguns, handguns... they're all gun nuts. Very little formal military training amongst them, but they'd form what you would call the militia... if there were a country any longer.

For your perusal:

Name: Ivan “The Surgeon” Badowski
Age: 57, appears to be in mid twenties
Physical Stats: 6'8” tall, he has long dark hair that is kept drawn back in a ponytail. His grey eyes are keen and serious, and his body is incredibly lean for such a tall man. This is a result of his ancetry, since he is only half human. The other half is that of a race found on a distant continent of incredibly tall, thin people who move with speed and grace, but who are physically weak. Ivan is much shorter than they are, but his form is much stronger thanks to his human blood. He wears a set of well-tailored gentleman's clothing, including a long jacket and vest and fine leather walking boots, and has a set of seemingly delicate spectacles that sit upon the bridge of his nose. His finely shaped face is thin and gaunt, giving him a very willowy look, like he would bend in a strong wind, rather than break.

There is no sign of stubble upon the man's chin and he is as close shaved as is possible. How this is possible is not immediately apparent.

Profession: The Surgeon is as his name implies; a brilliant surgeon. Trained in all types of combat medicine, he is fully capable of putting the pieces back together while under fire. His biggest skill seems to be the steadiness and accuracy of his hands with the scalpel. No matter how delicate the surgery required, those hands of his are up to the task and his scalpel never misses the mark.

Tools: Ivan carries an old-style black medical bag, and his attire gives the impression of a doctor from years gone by, doing house calls in the days before the motor vehicle became common. The contents of the bag, however, are far from antique. His surgical implements are all state of the art, and he carries enough supplies to treat any minor injury and many major ones. He restocks these supplies whenever he can, always on the lookout for new equipment that could help him in his trade.

Weapons: Blades. Lots and lots of blades. His scalpel is never used as a weapon, but that steady hand is useful for carving many things. Throwing knives are hidden about his body, nobody is quite sure how many, and at his side he carries an old fashioned Cut and Thrust Sword. The blade is finely crafted, the tang nearly the full length of the blade, and perfectly balanced. Unlike the later rapiers that came about, the older style of sword he carries is much sturdier and capable of delivering devastating slashes as well as thrusts.
(see link Side Sword )

The Surgeon is a traveler, moving from one settlement to the next whenever the whim strikes him, trying to piece together those who are torn apart.

Right! Info for Old Salty, coming right up!

A ruined port city, Old Salty has managed to stay standing since the Box was opened. This of mostly due to the fact that Colonel Drake, the man in charge, runs a tight ship. He is an ex-military man, ex only because there IS no proper military anymore--it was rather quick to fall apart once the demons showed up. He has a standing militia of about 50 men and women, half of which are ex-military and help to train the OTHER half which is not.

Drake attends weekly service with his old chaplain and allows no kind of criminal behavior. The general vicinity of Old Salty is known to be about as safe as you can get in the world these days. Drake will often reach into his own pockets to help those in need, if necessary.

His second in command is Lieutenant Max, an old war buddy of his. He doesn't have quite such a moral height, but he is an upright man. While he won't short himself to help those less fortunate, he won't stand for what he feels is wrong, and would never leave someone to die.

About 400 people live in the settlement proper, in the run-down homes and buildings that remain. Another 175 live within the rotting hulls of ships. Mostly the cruise liners, with surplus supplies being stored in freight ships... On the odd chance they have surplus supplies.

AA guns are mounted around the perimeter, along with cannons for ground attacks, ripped from a few decaying warships that remain in the port. The settlement has seismographs to detect diggers, and a hefty amount of charges to scare them off with. So far, they've held their own with a few casualties, but have not managed to kill anything. Safe as the place is, everyone is still on edge, waiting for that one attack they can't fight off.

Old Salty relies mainly on Caesar's Legion for supplies, though there are a few lucky caravans and some rare coastal traders that come through.

Okay! So, Mittoo came out and made me detail pre-Pandora countries! So, since I made them up on the fly in chat, here are the results!

First, the continent upon which you all reside is called Ceraisle, and the country... The Free States of Ceraisle! It was a democracy. Capitalist. You know the drill. Ceraisle takes up about half the world, running north to south, with a number of inland seas. These, of course, are drying up. Not that you'd want seawater to drink anyways. Of course, same goes for lakes and ponds... Not dry. But drying. And rain is precious rare.

Second to Ceraisle was the Monarchy of the Gods. Highly religious Monarchy, ruled by King and Queen in tandem. High population, smaller continent, less than half the size of Ceraisle. Less than favorable living conditions to reflect that. Obviously, no contact post-Pandora. Nobody knows what's up with them now.

The Black Lands! This is a land nobody really knows about. Far back as anyone can remember, their borders have been under heavy guard, and they don't take kindly to visitors. After Pandora? STILL nobody has a clue, and now they care even less. Leave 'em to their fate, if they wanna be so secluded.

Finally, Molaize, an attempt at a benevolent dictatorship, stands opposite Ceraisle on the map. A bit bigger than the Monarchy, a tad smaller than the Black Lands, there are a number of opinions on how well it worked out for them. They had a shaky internal peace, and remained as neutral as possible in world affairs.

Mittoo, I took the liberty of bunnying Thaddeus to the circle, since he'd previously indicated that he would be there. The post ends where it does so as not to bunny him into non-speech, as well.
