Hello everyone! The staff has decided to close original character applications for the time being until we have more canon characters. This new rule doesn't apply to the two or three OC applications we currently have, though, so no worries, we're still going to review them. Why, you ask? Well, let me explain our reasons: a) In the long run, we WILL end up with similar characters because the more characters we have, the more difficult it is to invent new, unique characters. As staffers, we want to prevent our RP from getting too many duplicates. b) Unlike CCs, most OCs still have to establish relationships in the RP, which leads to many introductions, first-meeting-posts. This can be quite tiresome in the long run and hinders our RP from progressing (we DO have a serious plot, we only haven't revealed it yet *winks*) c) The exisiting canon characters have difficulties with butting in on all the 'establishing relationships' posts that the OCs are doing, and it's becoming problematic for them to connect their characters to any of them, thus slowing down their productivity Those are the main reasons for our decision. We feel very sorry for those who still planned to rp an OC, however, the current situation (and abundance of OCs) is forcing us to take action now. The new rule applies to all applications posted after January 23rd. OC-apps will be open again when we have more CCs One month has passed since our revival and we must say that the RP is going rather smoothly. However, we want to remind you of our RP guidelines once again (which you have hopefully read)! Although things are working well, we still spotted some potential threats which might cause problems in the future: 1. If a thread is inactive for more than a month it will be deleted (unless the involved RPers tell me that they're away/busy beforehand) 2. If you are waiting for s.o. to reply to a thread, please PM them for they could have missed your post. It doesn't necessarily mean that a thread is dead. We have so many subboards, it is very easy for s.o. to overlook a reply. In this case, please communicate with each other (admins are not RP-messengers)! The "Rhandom Rhapsody" thread for instance is working well because its RPers are constantly keeping contact through the cbox. We thought we'd let you know because it is sth which has happened in the past and you know what became of our RP... 3. Please feel free to establish relationships for your OCs before starting to RP. For example, if your characters are in the same year and department, it is easy to make them classmates. This will reduce the number of "getting-to-know-each-other" posts. |
