As manga fans, I guess that we are always looking for new series once in a while. Post your personal manga recommendations here. I recommend: 1. Kobato by CLAMP (comedy) Hanato Kobato - a cute but extremely naive girl - has to accomplish a mission: She must fill up a mysterious bottle of hers with the suffering from people's hearts in order to grant her wish. The more people/hearts she heals, the more her bottle fills itself. Among the hearts she heals, there will be a boy she will work for and bring happiness to, but she is forbidden to fall in love with him. Of course, Kobato is not alone on that mission. A little blue dog called Ioryogi looks after her, but he has a terrible temper and scolds her all the time. Will Kobato complete her mission? Who sent her for this mission? Scanlating group: Clamp no Lumiere 2. Shinshi Doumei Cross by Arina Tanemura (romance/comedy) Haine Otomiya (15) attends the prestigious private Imperial Academy. She was sold to foster parents for fifty million yen, and is a former yankee. She gave up her life as a yankee and entered the academy when she met Shizumasa Togu. The students are divided in 3 classes (depending on the wealth of their families) and as a bronze student, it's not easy for her to get Shizumasa's attention who is the only gold student. Besides class distinctions, Haine has to realize that Shizumasa is unexpectedly cold towards her. |

Shinshi Doumei Cross = Absolute MUST read. Totally agree with you! Anyone who's a shoujo fan must read this series! >D Anyone who's a shoujo fan must read at least ONE of Arina Tanemura's works! (homgodofshoujo)Millenium Snow: One of Hatori Bisco's earlier works, (mangaka of Ouran Highschool Host Club) it's a very very sweet story, and definitely Bisco-style! "Seventeen-year-old Chiyuki Matsuoka was born with heart problems, and her doctors say she won't live to see the next snow. Toya is an 18-year-old vampire who hates blood and refuses to make the traditional partnership with a human, whose life-giving blood would keep them both alive for a thousand years." Volume 1 Summary: "Chiyuki makes the most of the time she has left, even though things aren't that exciting - until she comes across a reluctant vampire late one chilly night. Can Chiyuki teach Toya to feel passion for life, even as her own is ending?" Beauty Pop: This is shoujo shoujo, all the way through! I love how refreshing a change it is to have an indifferent, sleepy, and boyish heroine~ I hate the summary though. It's so cheesy. ![]() "Although a truly gifted hairstylist, Kiri Koshiba has no interest in using her talent to pursue fame and fortune, unlike the three popular boys in the "Scissors Project" at school. Determined to become the best makeover team in Japan, they give showy makeovers to handpicked girls. As much as Kiri tries to shy away from the Scissors Project spotlight, she finds herself responding to beauty's call..." |

I can only think of one right now, but it's Death Note. You might have heard of it or even read it since it's pretty popular, I think ^^; But, yeah, it's an awesome series if you're into that sort of stuff. It's a manga that actually makes you think x_x; It pits two intellectual geniuses against each other, each one trying to outsmart the other in highly complex strategies and plans. |

Vampire Knight? It's a really popular manga - I seem to read about it in every forum I go to. I even started to read the first few chapters and as far as I know, it's about an academy (Cross-Academy, I think) which has two groups of students: One group consists of normal humans (Day Class) and the other group only has school when others sleep - the other group consists of very good-looking vampires. To prevent them from sucking the normal students' blood, they became the so-called "Night-Class" and are seperated from the rest. The protagonist Yuuki and her friend Zero are guards who watch out that there won't be any problems with Day and Night class students. Yuuki is also in love with Kaname, the leader of the vampire group. He had once saved her from another vampire when she was little. Her best friend Zero's family was killed by vampires and ever since then zero hated vampires. What Yuuki doesn't know is that Zero was once bitten by a vampire... |

I'd recommend Bleach, Death Note and Mahou Sensei Negima! for the shounen people. As for shoujo, I personally like Vampire Knight, Ouran High School Host Club and Meru Puri : Maarchen Prince. But I think one of the best shoujos I've ever read HAS to be Penguin Revolution. You can't NOT read it~

I like Land of the Blindfolded and Penguin Revolution, both of which are Tsukuba Sakura's works.
^_^ I also enjoy reading the Shinigami no Ballad manga. It's very touching... I read stuff like Ouran High School Host Club and Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge... but personally, Ouran's starting to get kinda boring after a while... they'd better release Book 11 where I live soon... |

If you liked Fushigi Yuugi, you might like Harukanaru Toki no Naka de ~Hachiyoushou~. The art style is similar to that of Corda's, and it's reverse harem, and (correct me if I'm wrong) it has that Seiryuu/Suzaku/Byakko/Genbu thing, like Fushigi Yuugi. |

Hm... I like many manga series and I have the feeling that if I listed all of them here, it would end up being a VERY long post. Ouran High School Host Club is something I swear I would die without, seriously. Same goes for Death Note, Skip Beat, Penguin Revolution and...Vampire Knight. Yup. These 5 keep me alive.

Ahh, The Wallflower. Personally I don't like that name, but whatever. My favourite character is Yukinojo-kuuuuuuuuun~ OMG HE'S SOOOOO KYOOT!!! I'd like to recommend Meine Liebe. The manga, that is. The anime's kinda boring if you don't know the story or haven't played the games (like the GBA one). Though I don't think the manga has been released in English outside of Singapore... Kitchen Princess is a really good manga. It has to do with cooking, but it has a really good storyline to it. I really enjoy reading it. :D |

If you're into cooking, I suggest Yakitate!! Japan - an anime about bread. It's uber funny, especially the reactions. And then there's Prince of Tennis... BISHOUNEN.

Yes! Yakitate Japan! It's very funny, even if all the reactions are so over exaggerated! Oh, Her Majesty's Dog is a good one. I only read the first volume so far, but it's still pretty good.

I'm probably going to repeat a lot of the manga that people already recommended, but I'll try not to. *sweatdrops* This is probably more of a list of all the manga I've ever read (excluding ones that I know have already been said, like Ouran High School Host Club), so they could range from okay/good to AWESOME. ![]() Shoujo - Penguin Revolution - Barajou no Kiss (I've only read one chapter, but it might be interesting...?) - Akuma to Dolce (a must!~) - Karakuri Odetto (same author as Akuma to Dolce; this one's really cute) - Shiawase Kissa Sanchoume - Hana Kimi - Special A Shounen/Other - Kami no Mizo Shiru Sekai (The World God Only Knows) - +Anima - Tegami Bachi - Apple - 1/2 Prince ...I think that's enough for you guys. *sweatdrops again* Hope I didn't scare any of you off.... EDIT: Recently I've been reading a lot more shounen, so I edited my list of recommendations... :3 Edited by Fahrin, Apr 21 2009, 01:28 AM.
