Roleplayer: Koizumi Yuuki

Name, Age: Yian, 15.

Do you play an instrument? If yes, which one and for how long?: Violin: 5-6 years; Piano: Lessons for two years when I was younger, but now I teach myself. About 8 years.

Character you apply for: Tsukimori Len.

How often will you be able to role-play?: About a few times every week. Once school starts, though, it might be less frequent.

EDIT - {10/6/07}: As I'm sure most of you know, I haven't been roleplaying very frequently since school has started. Thus, I'll only be able to roleplay on weekends or whenever I have the time. I do check this place frequently, so I'm always up-to-date on the recent posts. :] Thanks for understanding.

Biography:
Tsukimori Len is extremely serious when it comes to music. His family having been in the music profession for generations, he strives to meet and reach beyond his family's expectations. His mother, Hamai Misa, is a famous pianist, and his father was once a world-class violinist, now a CEO of a company dealing with musical instruments. Because his parents are such well-known musicians, he feels constantly overshadowed by them. He believes that people attribute his musical talent to his parents, and thus never see who he truly is, or acknowledge his true talent. He feels confined to his place as "Tsukimori's son," unable to escape from his parents' shadow.

Even so, he greatly respects his parents and their opinions are of great importance to him. He is always very formal with them. For instance, in the second round of the Seiso concours where his parents were special guests, he was so worried in his effort to please them that he wound up with a high fever. His parents told him as a child that music is meant to entertain others and is not simply all technique. He remembers that their music was always sweet, kind and emotionally moving, with the ability to draw in an audience anywhere. He struggles with this concept, for he does not understand how he can achieve such a sound. He has played the violin since a very young age, and therefore his musical technique and tone is nearly flawless, but his music still lacks in emotion.

He has had winning experiences in international competitions.

Behavior:
Despite being commented upon and regarded highly for his great musical talent, he still believes that he is not good enough (compared to his parents) and practices constantly in an effort to become better. Any time not spent practicing is time wasted, according to him. His whole life seems to be concentrated on music and his violin.

Tsukimori has a very cold, stern, and arrogant personality. He doesn't like getting into other people's affairs, nor does he like others prying into his own life. He rarely speaks, and when he does, it's usually a snide comment or a statement saying that it does not concern him. He is a perfectionist at everything he does, and hates to lose. He believes that the only reason to participate in a contest is to win. Because he takes music so seriously, he cannot stand it when others take a competition lightly, and only put in half the effort. He is extremely prideful as well, and would never run away from something that he committed himself to doing. He can be bluntly rude at times because he simply does not care about others.

Relationships:
Hino Kahoko
Tsukimori was initially very cold to Hino because he could not stand the fact that she was from the General Department. He bluntly stated that he hoped that she would not bring down the quality of the Seiso concours. However, one time when she overheard him playing Ave Maria, he was stunned at her enthusiastic response to his music. She exclaimed that she had never heard such beautiful music before, nor that a violin could produce such a wonderful sound. She also stated that it must be really fun to play as well as he could. He had never heard anyone describe his music in such a way before. Likewise, when he finally hears her play, he becomes confused because he does not understand how her music seems so much more emotional than his own. He has heard that she had little experience, but it doesn't show when she actually plays. He suspects that she is hiding something from everyone.

No person can make him warm up, though Hino seems to be the only who can. For some reason, the girl is able to make Tsukimori show more emotions than any other person. He shows that he actually has a kind side to him when Hino is concerned: lending her CDs, draping his jacket around her shoulders, for example. His kind side seems only reserved for her, though.

Tsuchiura Ryotarou
Tsukimori's greatest rival, besides Hino, is Tsuchiura. He believes that the General Department students are not worthy enough to compete in the concours, which explains his dislike towards the pianist. Everything about the pianist rubs him the wrong way. He and Tsuchiura get into fights concerning music and ability, but their fights often concern Hino as well. If anything, he would hate most to lose to him. Tsuchiura once saw a video of young Tsukimori playing in a concours, which inspired Tsuchiura to participate in one as well. Although he would never admit it, Tsukimori recognizes that Tsuchiura does have talent and thus grudgingly respects him in a sense.

Yunoki Azuma
Tsukimori is wary of Yunoki's prescence, because he suspects something between him and Hino. Still, he respects Yunoki as an upperclassman.

Hihara Kazuki
Hihara often gets on Tsukimori's nerves because he is so energetic and loud. Tsukimori also gets annoyed at how Hihara plays in the competition to have fun and enjoy himself, not necessarily to win.

Shimizu Keiichi
Tsukimori does not interact much with Shimizu, but he recognizes that Shimizu has a deep love for music. He isn't sure what to think about the cellist, though, as he's often so sleepy and says incoherent things.

Fuyuumi Shouko
Tsukimori has not interacted with Fuyuumi much outside of the concours and at her summer villa. His cold personality often frightens her, though.

Your goals? (what do you plan with your character?): I'd like to make him show his vulnerable/shy side a bit more. I'd also want to see him warm up to Hino a bit. It's cute to see those cold, serious characters open up and show that they do have a kind side to them. =3 I'd also like to work on the relationship between him and Tsuchiura, perhaps to make them understand each other a bit more.

Short sample RP (~10 lines): Tsukimori Len frowned at the music in front of him. He had missed a note in the last measure and had ended the piece too sharply. He sighed and lifted his violin away from his shoulder, mentally berating himself for such a stupid mistake. He had always strived for perfection, and with the next selection coming up soon, it was no time to be making mistakes. Having practiced long after school had ended, he was starting to feel a familiar ache in his arms and the tips of his fingers had reddened.

Deciding that he would continue to practice at home, he swiftly packed up his instrument and walked out of the practice room. Just as he was about to exit the school gates, a certain redhead walked up next to him.

"Ah, Tsukimori-kun!" she called, smiling, "Are you going home?"

"Hai," he answered shortly.

"Well, I'll see you tomorrow then," she replied, waving cheerfully. "Bye!"

He simply nodded, showing that he had heard her before she ran off. Once she was out of sight, he sighed and ran a hand warily through his hair. She had been the reason he had made the mistake in practice. He did not know why she had such an effect on him, but he could only hope that it wouldn't continue to affect his ability to play.
