LAST EDITED ON: May 31, 2008 Name, Age: Kotoko, 19 Do you play an instrument? If yes, which one and for how long?: I’ve been playing the piano for about 13 years, 12 of which were spent taking piano lessons. I also played the clarinet during high school, so about 3-4 years altogether. How often will you be able to role-play?: Fairly often, most likely every day. That is, unless I get caught up in school when lots of projects are due or when mid-terms or finals roll around. Character Name: Inoue Koji Which school does your character attend (see above)?: Senzoku Gakuen Instrument your character plays: Piano Character Description - Please keep in mind that you are allowed to add as much detail as you want to your character Basic Stats Hair: Dark brown, almost black Eyes: Dark blue Height: 5'11 Weight: 161 lb. Likes: Almost all kinds of music, the piano, science, staring out the window, animals, girls Dislikes: Mornings, pushy people, his father's cooking (his mother cooks mostly, though) Favourite subjects: Biology, chemistry, and for some reason, English Least favourite subjects: Japanese literature, art class (he's no good at drawing) Hero: Beethoven School clubs: Biology Club (he's its president!) Tall and dashing, Koji is considered one of the best-looking guys around. With dark, somewhat tousled hair, deep blue eyes, and a devilish smile, his ability to charm a lady is almost unprecedented at Senzoku Gakuen, resulting in his having gathered quite a female following. Nevertheless, to him, it’s all in good fun – a game, if you will, and one in which he is winning. Still, it’s caused him to develop a bit of an ego problem and Koji is positively brimming with confidence. All of this, of course, only adds to his charm. At least, to most people. While the majority of girls blush and stammer when he so much as speaks to them, Yamada Yoko is quite the opposite. Instead of the usual gushing, she stubbornly gives him the cold shoulder whenever he happens to be in her presence. It’s a phenomenon he can’t quite understand, especially since he’s sure that he hasn’t ever done anything bad towards her. However, Koji remains undeterred, teasing her whenever he can – which is often, considering they’re music partners! While he knows that his teasing isn’t really helping the situation, he can’t seem to help it…and he’s not entirely sure why. Despite his flirtatious nature, Koji is actually a kind and caring guy. He likes to lend a helping hand when he can, particularly now that he is one of the oldest students in his school and must now act as everyone’s senpai. He is also fond of animals (especially the cute and fuzzy kind, although he doesn’t always like to admit it). Even though Koji is very easy-going and laid-back, he is actually quite the musician and student. He began learning the piano at the age of four, taught primarily by his father, a music professor at the Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music. His mother is a professional cellist. Koji is the only child in his family so much of his parents’ attention was focused on him and him alone, encouraging him to hone his skills and to always practice. As a result, Koji is an exceptional pianist and even dabbles in composing every now and then. Besides being extremely talented in music, Koji has some of the best grades in his class, almost always coming within the top five. Although he could have gotten into the music program at Senzoku, he instead chose to take the path of science. However, he faces a lot of pressure to transfer into music due to his musical background and talent. Adding even more confusion and frustration is the fact that Koji is unsure of what he wants to do once he graduates from high school. Will he pursue a career in music and try to grow out of his parents’ shadows or will he rebel against his parents’ expectations and become something else? Relationships: - Yamada Yoko: Already mentioned above. They have a rather love-hate relationship, though they do well on-stage. They've known each other since childhood and were taken care of by the same babysitter, and therefore used to be playmates. However, they eventually outgrew the need for a babysitter and grew apart until they began talking again, just when Yoko's delinquency was beginning to spiral out of control. Nevertheless, by this time, Yoko had changed to the point of being almost unrecognizable to Koji. Still, he did his best to reach out to her until she was sent away to Korea, meeting her again only when she returned to attend high school at Senzoku. - Nomiya Takeshi: The friend and classmate of Yamada Yoko. Koji can’t really understand why Yoko would hang out so much with such a quiet and unconfident guy. Nevertheless, Koji always finds himself trying to outdo him, both on and off stage. - Arai Momo: A newly-met fellow pianist. Koji is quite impressed with her talent and she would probably be his rival if they were in the same competition (since she is in the solo category, he in the duet) - Inoue Junko: Koji's mother. She is a professional cellist and is quite close to her only son and child. She would love to see him pursue a career in music and is quite upset when he chooses science instead, but she still supports him in whatever choice he makes as best she can. She is at home a lot unless she has a performance coming up, during which she is out at practice sessions a lot. - Inoue Takashi: Koji's father, a professor at the prestigious Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music. His main instruments are the piano and the violin, although he knows how to play a variety of other instruments, as well. He is far more disappointed that Koji is choosing to pursue science instead of music, but since he isn't at home that often, he doesn't always have the chance to express said disappointment. Junko, his wife, keeps his mouth shut for fear of driving Koji away. Sample RP (>=10 lines): [Gah, it's full of suckiness but I never know where to start for samples. Nevertheless, here's my best shot!] “Ahh, but what’s this? It seems like you have…something…right here!” The young first year girl gasped in surprise as Koji almost magically pulled a daisy from behind her ear. It was a little ruffled from his having palmed it into his uniform sleeve to pull out “magically” later, but it was still unharmed enough for the girl to blush as Koji slipped it casually into her auburn hair. Flashing her his best grin, Koji said, “There, a pretty flower for a pretty girl, ne?” “A – a – arigatou!” she stammered, blushing even more and wiping the tear stains from her cheeks. Koji then produced a tissue from his book bag, handing it over to her. The poor girl was apparently new, lost, and only recently had her English notes sabotaged by a group of notorious bullies. After days of suffering, she had finally broken down into tears in the middle of the hallway, even though classes had already begun after their lunch break. Koji had noticed and stayed behind, helping her to gather her things and to cheer her up. “Really, it’s not a problem!” he lied, letting out a nervous laugh, knowing he’d get an earful from his teacher for being late. He then slipped back into his confident, princely attitude. “Now, such a beautiful lady shouldn’t cry so much. A smile would suit you much better, don’t you think?” “H-hai!” the girl agreed, smiling tentatively from behind the tissue. Still blushing, she gathered up her books in her arms and hurried away to class. Koji watched her until she rounded a corner, disappearing from his view, and then gathered his own books for class. He paused for a moment and then decided to bring some of his music books with him to look over while the teacher was busy lecturing. He still had a lot of work to do in preparation for the competition and Yoko would surely be expecting him to be ready. Edited by Kotoko, May 31 2008, 04:45 PM.
