Name, Age: Namida, -N/A- Do you play an instrument? If yes, which one and for how long?: Yes, flute for four years, piano for three… months. < < I’ve been singing seriously for four years, if Kanazawa-sensei counts. How often will you be able to role-play?: Everyday, although I don’t roleplay unless I have something of substance to say in my post. At the very least, I usually visit everyday. Character Name: Masaoka Shinji Which school does your character attend (see above)?: Ueno Instrument your character plays: Violin Character Description- - Shinji has an odd appearance at first glance, and second glance, and third. His dark black hair is twisted at the ends so that it spikes out in a messy way, though somehow he keeps the body of it neat, while the edges loftily stand out at all angles. His eyes sharp and a deepset onyx color, they seem to calculate everything he needs to know about what Shinji’s looking at in an instant. His skin is rather pale, so against his dark hair and piercing eyes, he seems to have an ill and sallow complexion, though he has no particular health problems to account for. His wardrobe is usually a consistent pattern of black, white, grey, or the rare splash of neon color slim fitting clothes, and he is never without some accessory on his hands unless he’s playing the violin, a habit he’s had ever since he started playing violin. Though he never divulges why, the real reason he does this is because when the heavy accessories, or gloves are removed, his fingers and hands feel lighter, thus giving him a more accomplished feeling before he even begins to play. They also act well to protect his hands when he’s doing day-to-day activities. He normally wears a pair of contacts, however, he does have a pair of black rimmed glasses that have square frames that look plain, but fit just fine in Shinji’s style. He normally wears glasses when he’s practicing, as they don’t bother his eyes, unlike his contacts. Shinji is almost always cracking remarks that are unintentionally blunt, noted by the fact that he smiles when he says snide comments. But however candid and brazen Shinji is, the fact that he’s not a stubborn mule who won’t budge even at the most powerful gust is a fact that some have trouble stomaching. In fact, he’s quite open to most idea’s and is willing to listen to most people no matter what the case, and strangely enough, he’s rather good at adjusting in new environments. Though when his opinions are set in stone they’re impossible to break no matter how much reasoning is placed before him, any other opinion is rather easy to change. His family is a very successful and wealthy one, his mother a successful fashion designer, while his father is an interior designer. Thus, style and chic play a large role in his life, and though his parents are aware of his interest in music rather then design, they do little to help him in the subject, as they leave him be for the most part. Shinji rarely speaks to his parents, but as a result, is extremely close to his siblings. He often thinks of his younger sister whenever he's out shopping or asked to go somewhere, and he highly dislikes the idea of leaving her at home alone with only servants around, regardless of how capable she is. Shinji himself will sometimes be found sketching clothing or interior designs if he is bored, although the designs will almost always have some sort of extremely subtle reference to music. His notebook, which contains all these designs, is somewhat of a picture hunt for other students, since as you turn the pages, the harder it gets to find the reference to music. However, he hides this notebook from his family, because it implies that he has interest in the family business, which he insists he doesn't. Shinji’s metabolism is an amazing story in itself, and he can sit through two full course meals and gain nearly no weight. This makes him awkwardly thin, and though he eats quite fancy foods and certainly not small portions, he hardly ever has anything to show for it other then dishes that have been picked clean. And it hardly helps that when he’s not sleeping, studying, or playing violin, that he’s playing tennis and exercising, spurring his weight loss even further. Masaoka Hanako: Shinji’s mother, the tall woman who is perhaps the virtual opposite of her son, with flowing cornsilk colored hair and sharp crystal blue eyes, she is extremely strict, though normally never around enough to enforce her rules. She dislikes the sound of high pitched instruments like the violin, and refuses to listen to Shinji’s music. However, she is extremely excited for the concurs for one reason; Her son has finally agreed to wearing the suits that she’ll design specifically for him, something he’d always refused in the past. Masaoka Sora: Shinji’s father, the man is essentially an older version of Shinji himself, though narrow-minded, stubborn, and rather frustrating. He’s known to be extremely picky about his surroundings, and needs everything to be perfect if he’s not to lose him temper, which is on a very short wick. He rarely speaks to Shinji, though will attend his recitals occasionally when he has the time, and it is Sora who arranged for Shinji to take violin lessons. He left to help refurbish an old mansion in France just before it was decided that Shinji take part in the concurs. He is currently unaware that his son is participating in the event, as he probably wouldn’t care either way. Masaoka Seiji: Shinji's twin brother, the two look virtually exactly the same, save for the fact that Seiji's hair is visibly sharper, more gelled, and his appearance in general is punk slacker through and through. The undeniable distinguishing point is that Seiji has three piercings on his face, and Shinji does not. Seiji is narrow-minded, like their father, but considerate of what he says. Personality wise, quite the opposite of Shinji. He plays the piano and contrabass, though neither seriously, and his music is the only music that Hanako will listen to. He is the older of the two, and thus is set to inherit his father's interior design business. He does not attend Ueno, instead, another school nearby. He and Shinji are strangely close, and share a room, though it's quite evident that in their large home, this is unesseccary. Masaoka Rini: Shinji’s younger sister, she is the only permanent residence of the first Masaoka mansion other then her brothers, and is currently in her fifth year of schooling at a private school. She plays only traditional east-asian string instruments, like the koto and the erhu, and though is rather arrogant and snappish for her age, is the only family member who truly cares about whether Shinji is around or not. Rini highly dislikes Seiji and goes to great lengths to antagonize him; especially since she's rather strong for her age, and her older brothers are rather weak. She is set to inherit Hanako's fashion line, thus leaving Shinji to inherit no part of the family's business. Matsumoto Nobu: One of the only good friends of Shinji’s and his duet partner, he shares somewhat the same view as Nobu on the concurs, and isn’t taking it too seriously due to lack of motivation. But because Nobu is the only person whom Shinji truly trusts as a close friend, everyone else simply being mediocre acquaintances, Shinji is determined not to mess up on his side of the performance. Sample RP: The whole house was in a frenzy, everyone preparing themselves for the Madam's arrival home for the first time in six months. While she had been away, Masaoka Hanako had written plenty of letters, called plenty of times to state how much she missed her darling children, pages and pages of letters for Seiji and Rini, while perhaps a sentence hurriedly squished into Seiji's portion of the letter asking about Shinji. And sometimes, Shinji didn't even bother asking for the phone when she called. It wasn't as though they had anything to talk about, other then his grades, and the answer was always the same, as no other answer could ever be provided. The somewhat ignored child of the family sat quite still and unbothered on the very modern black couch that stood in the small sitting area just off the grand white oak doors. His right foot sitting on the back of the couch, the left dangling off the cushions, and his head positioned on the armrest, he certainly wasn't poised for ceremony. In his hands, as no one could ever doubt, lay a book that explained the basics of violin. It was visibly worn, quite old, and though Shinji was now quite sure he had all the basics branded onto the back of his eyes, his brain, and his hands, he still often lazed about just staring at the poise of the illustration, to make sure he'd always have it right no matter what. As Seiji barked orders at the assistant chef who was asking him what the menu for dinner tonight would be, Shinji, still staring at the drawing, reached over to the glass coffee table and felt about for the novel he'd been reading for the past few days. After being unable to find it, with an irritated glance, Shinji looked over to see that his book had been removed from it's place, along with the stack of musicbooks that had sat next to it, and his textbooks which had been placed above the novel. Leaping to his feet and clenching the Basics of Violin book in his fist, he looked about frantically. "Are you looking for the books, Shinji-sama?" A butler with a fine trimmed moustache and beard asked, indicating toward the desk where all his books had been stacked neatly; alphabetically by author. Relaxing, Shinji smiled, "Yes, thank you." The man bowed out of the way as Shinji placed the book he'd been reading at the top of the pile, glancing over at the approaching footsteps, which turned out to be Rini, her short dark hair bobbing about her chin and jawline as she pointed an accusing finger at her older brother, saying, "I'm working my butt off preparing for Hahaoya's return, and you're sitting around doing nothing!" Shinji lifted his hands up to his shoulders in defeat, giving Rini a lopsided smile, "It's not like there's anything I need to do." She narrowed an eye, and planted her hands on her hips, "There's plenty." She snapped in a bossy voice, "First of all, go oversee how things are going in the kitchen while Seiji-ani-sama goes to check on what color the new sheets in Haha's room is. Then, after that, move your books so that they're not sitting out in plain sight; it kills Chichioya's designs, the greeting hall isn't a library! Go! Move them! Shoo!" Many years younger then Shinji himself, Rini was bossy bossy bossy, and it didn't help that one of her older brother's never said 'no' if it would make her happy in the long-run. When Shinji passed by an extremely irritated Seiji, who only gave a quick "'Sup?" without waiting for an answer when he passed, Shinji noted that Seiji was not wearing any jewlery on his face. It was hard to tell that his eyebrow and lip were even pierced this way, thus, Shinji entertained himself with the thought of going upstairs and gelling his hair up a bit more so that he and Seiji would look identical, and see if their mother could really even tell who was who. He highly doubted she'd notice, whether he gelled his hair a little more or not. Shoving his hands into his pockets, Shinji stalked toward the kitchen, where some divine smells wafted through the door that was constantly being opened and closed as people ran back and forth. "Good afternoon, Shinji-sama." Everyone would say hurriedly as they passed, and unlike Rini or Seiji, Shinji would nod and acknowledge that they'd said something, while Seiji would simply hold his head high and keep his irritated expression as he kept walking, unabashed, and while Rini would stop completely and engage in a never-ending conversation about something a girl her age did not normally discuss, such as stocks or inflation. At the very least, if ignored, Shinji prided himself on at least being the only normal, sane member of the Masaoka Family. But sane and normal never really excelled in the financial department. |
