Name, Age: Miyazaki Rieko, 13 Do you play an instrument? If yes, which one and for how long?: I used to play the piano for a few months, and learnt a bit of music theory in that time. How often will you be able to role-play?: At least once every one or two days. Character Name: Matsumoto Nobu Which school does your character attend (see above)?: Ueno Gakuen Instrument your character plays: Cello Character Description - Please keep in mind that you are allowed to add as much detail as you want to your character Physical Appearance: He has darkish red hair which falls slightly below his collar. He's roughly 180 cm tall (5"9) and has blue-colored eyes. His eyesight is perfect so he doesn't need glasses. Nobu is an attractive person by most standards and has quite a few girls crushing on him. He is left-handed but still plays the normal right-handed cello, thus he learnt to be somewhat ambidextrous. He pierced his right ear after being dared to in middle school. When going out he usually dons a cap, no matter how overcast the day. He likes wearing oversized shirts and baggy pants. Character Traits: What he is thinking about usually has no relation to the topic of discussion, causing massive irritation with the other guys in Ueno. Sometimes he has weird outbursts. This side of him, however, appeals to girls. He does not really care whether he wins or loses in the competition but works hard in it for Masaoka Shinji's sake. When serious, he works hard but loses his concentration easily and takes a lot of breaks. Other people see him as a carefree person. He never seems to get angry, yet has times when he is slightly depressed, which are usually because of trivial matters which others wouldn't care about. He is a relatively popular person in school for his eccentricity and openness. His only close friend, however, seems to be Masaoka Shinji. But he has a rude, slightly 'darker' side which he hasn't revealed to anyone but his family yet. When agitated, he speaks Kansai-ben (probably a result of watching too many manzai sketches when young). Nobu can be quite vain at times. He cares a lot about his outer image. He is actually quite calculative; every single stupid thing he manages to do actually has some kind of merit in for him, either to raise his popularity or perhaps some other gain (it is usually the latter). Ironically, Nobu dislikes his older brother's vainness before his concerts. His feelings towards music are becoming more hobby-like because of his parents' influence. He is horrible at all forms of un-music-related work and fails half his examinations. Biography: His father, Matsumoto Isshin, works as a manager of a chain of music stores. His mother, Matsumoto Choko, is a housewife. Both were once encouraging his exposure to music, but since his grades dropped drastically after taking up the cello, they now place more importance on schoolwork instead of music. Choko, a strict woman, has confiscated his cello on several accounts. If his grades don't improve, his parents have even threatened to send him abroad for studies; even though they can barely afford the fees, they think it'll be worth it. Nobu has one older brother who is twenty-five, Matsumoto Kenta, who plays the piano as a hobby and yet is an overachiever at both music and academics. Sometimes Nobu gets tired of being compared to his aniki. Relationships: Matsumoto Isshin & Matsumoto Choko The family is drifting apart because of his parents' insistence on him dropping the cello, which Nobu loves to play but has no idea (he thinks music is some kind of a hobby). Their current relationship is bad and Nobu speaks very sarcastically to them as a sign of open defiance. Matsumoto Kenta Kenta is a vain, quite pompous person who thinks highly of himself and lowly of other people. Neither cares about the other party as much as they should. Nobu dislikes his older brother because of the fact that he is always being compared. Also, Kenta, who treats his parents with minimal respect, while Nobu treats his parents with at least a grudging respect, is always being favoured. This forged a one-sided sibling rivalry. Masaoka Shinji Close friends and duet partners. Nobu respects his stubborness and bluntness, and admires the way he plays his violin. Shinji blows up at him from time to time, but Nobu is rarely ever daunted by his best friend's fierceness. When Shinji explodes at another, he usually thinks he is responsible for Shinji's actions and apologises for his friend. Hyuga Katsuo After an unfortunate incident involving his cap, Nobu has taken a dislike to this school prodigy. For some reason, Nobu starts thinking of him more like his older brother, who also plays the piano, and tries to surpass him. Yamamoto Kimiko Has a slight crush on her. Then again, which boy doesn't? Kobayashi Hanako Nobu eventually starts developing a slight crush on her after he meets her. Later on he tries to convince himself to think of Hanako as a little sister, but whether that is true or not is unclear currently. Tezuka Daisuke Daisuke was Nobu's kouhai in their middle school (a private one). They had a good senpai-kouhai relationship but they lost touch with each other after Nobu graduated. Possible Future Relationships: None I can think of at the moment. Sample RP (>=10 lines): Matsumoto Nobu clicked the door open and stepped in. He kicked off his shoes, flung his bag on the floor and loosened his tie in a swift motion. A hard feat, considering the cello case strapped to his midsection. "Not even a 'Tadaima'?" asked Choko, stepping out of the kitchen to reprimand her unruly son. "Tadaima," he chanted boredly. "hahaue." Choko detected the obvious note of sarcasm in his voice and returned to the cooking of dinner, mumbling under her breath about the rude son she raised. Nobu checked his watch. A full ten minutes till his father came home. He'd probably be able to screech out a few music pieces by then. He undid the strap of the cello case and pulled out the bow. The house had no proper practice room with soundproof walls; he'd have to make do with the living room. He tapped his foot according to the beats and drew the bow on the fifth count. "Playing that thing again?" hollered Choko from the kitchen. "Even Ken-kun didn't practice every day." I won't listen to that woman, he thought, and closed his eyes to get rid of the constant nagging. The notes resonated throughout the living room, blocking out the shouting. Occassionally Choko would nudge his concentration, but he would hastily cover up the wrong note. "Tadaima," Isshin called, taking his shoes off near the doorway. Nobu didn't bother with his father and played. And played. And played. |
