((I actually don't know where in the school year we are -- as it would be helpful, but I can edit that once I find out))

Hah... today actually wasn't boring. Of all things, a national inter-school competition. Well, this'll definitely spice up things, now won't it?

Kazuha had heard of various rumors about this competition, though she had no idea that she'd actually be one of the participants. Then again, she never really paid attention to things, unless it actually was relevant to her. When she had gotten home, she decided to start practicing for the first selection, which was the prefectural level -- against Seiso Gakuen. That was the plan anyway...

When she had gotten to her bedroom door and opened it, that's when she saw a familiar face sitting on her bed. Dark blue hair, grayish-blue eyes, tall and slender frame, and had a mischievous smile on his face. Shouta Yoshitaka. She could recognize him that face and frame anywhere. The moment that she saw him, her expression changed from a calm one to an annoyed one.

"Man, what are you doin' here, Yoshitaka?" said Kazuha with a sigh as she walked past him and placed her bag and violin case next to her desk.

"Meh~ Kazu-chan! It's a free country, y'know~" was Shouta's cheerful reply, with a pout on his face. "Besides I was looking for you and Ruiki-san said I could wait for you in your room."

"Whatever. You should just wait in the foyer and NOT in here. It's really weird to walk into your room and just see some random person in here."

"You call ME random?! C'mon~! Kazu-chan, we've known each other since we little, so how am I random?"

"Perhaps, but you should know that every time you do this, it pisses me off."

Shouta decided to not reply to that as he already knew how EASILY it was to piss Kazuha off. It's not like he wanted to piss her off purposely, but it always seemed to happen anyway. At this point, Kazuha walked back to her bed and where Shouta was and sat down next to him, and handed him a piece of paper.

"Oh! Nice! You're participating in the national inter-school competition. Only the best musicians around the country are chosen so it's great that you're gonna be in it.

"I'm going to be participating in the stringed solo division. Hopefully, I can actually have some competition for once so it'll actually intrigue me. Who's representing Senzoku?"

"Inoue Koji & Yamada Yoko in the duet division, Arai Momo in the Keyboard Instruments (Piano) Solo division, and Tanaka Sakura in the Wind Instruments Solo division."

"I'm surprised that you're not participating considering how talented you are."

"Hm, well, Kaede-sensei, who's the music teacher in charge of the competition at Senzoku, DID talk to me about it, but since I'm going to be study aboard for most of the year and I'll be back before I graduate in March, I didn't find the point of me participating."

"You're studying abroad AGAIN? You already did a semester in London two years back and now you're goin' abroad again? I'm surprised that you're even graduating considering you spent a lot of your high school career outside Japan."

--------------------------
Several hours earlier...

"I'm sure that you've all have heard rumors about the upcoming national inter-school competition for classical music these last few week and have been pondering the students who would be chosen. So, now I'd like to announce the names of the students who'll be representing our school in the competition:

Wakabayashi Suzaku & Wakabayashi Ayumi in the Duet division, Takemoto Kazuha in the Stringed Instruments Solo division, Nakamura Chika in the Wind Instruments Solo division, and Tezuka Daisuke in the Keyboard Instruments (Piano) Solo division. The list will be posted on the bulletin board momentarily.

Kazuha had been on the roof, lying on her back with her eyes closed as she listened to her mp3 player, so she had no knowledge of the announcement that the principal had made just a few moments ago.

She stayed there until she heard the bell ring, signaling the end of lunch and as she walked down the stairs from the roof and into the hallway, she noticed a bunch of students surrounding the main bulletin board. As she walked towards the crowd, she noticed a familiar red-head, who she recognized as someone from her class -- Hikari Nakahara.

"Hey, Nakahara-chan. What's going on anyway?"

"Oh, Kazu-chan! It's about the National Inter-school Competition; they just posted a flyer of the participants for the competition and you're one of 'em!"

Kazuha raised an eyebrow at Hikari's statement as she was pretty skeptical with what she had just heard. "Huh? Seriously?"

"Yeah! I'll show ya!" and with that, Hikari grabbed Kazuha's wrist and dragged her through the crowd so she could actually read the flyer, which Hikari pointed to her name. "See? You're name's right there."

Kazuha took a look at the flyer and indeed, she did see her name listed there and took a glimpse at the rest of it:

The teachers of our school, Toho Gakuen, have decided on the following students:

Wakabayashi Suzaku & Wakabayashi Ayumi – Duo
Takemoto Kazuha – Stringed Instruments Solo
Nakamura Chika – Wind Instruments Solo
Tezuka Daisuke – Keyboard Instruments (Piano) Solo

If you have any complaints or want to withdraw from the competition, please contact the teacher who will be in charge of the competition: Sugiura Ichiro

Hm, this is something unexpected. Well, might as well take advantage of this opportunity.

((Wow... I didn't expect this post to be so long~ *swt* I have a feeling that I might edit it [AGAIN], but I'll keep it as is for now.))

[OOC: Kaitou, I hope you don't mind that I steal your announcement. *swt* ]

Tezuka Daisuke was minding his own business in the school yard, lying on a bench and stuffing his face with lunch when he heard the announcement.

"... The list will be posted on the bulletin board momentarily."

Daisuke coughed, choking on the onigiri he was eating.

"What? A solo?" he complained, finally managing to dislodge the rice that had stuck in his throat. "That means twice the work... And I was hoping to do a duet with Chikacchi,"

"Congratulations, Tezuka,"

"Nice going,"

"You were accepted, good for you!"

Several people who passed him had congratulated him; Daisuke returned them with a weak wave. He would probably not make it to the finals anyway - Daisuke knew very well how much he practised every day, and he'd probably stay that way for a long time. Even Emiri couldn't change his habits.

The bell for the end of lunch rang, and he immediately got up. Shoving the empty onigiri wrapper into his pocket, Daisuke grabbed the stack of manga next to him and made his way to class.

[OOC: I stole your announcement too, Kaitou~ xP ]

"Do you understand now, Shiroki-san?" Suzaku asked as he handed the blushing girl her textbook back. Natsuki nodded.

"Th-Thank you Wakabayashi-kun! I'm sorry for taking up your lunchtime to ask you to help me." She frowned, as if to reprimand herself. They were the few students left in the class. Most of the rest had gone down to eat their food. He sighed.

"Shiroki-san, next time just pay more attention when Ootori-sensei explains it," he said and turned back to his bento. He didn't notice her slightly heartbroken face when she walked back to her seat.

"Ita-" He was interrupted by an announcement which immediately caught his attention.

"I'm sure that you've all have heard rumors about the upcoming national inter-school competition for classical music these last few week and have been pondering the students who would be chosen.-" He turned back to his food, sure that he wouldn't get chosen. After all the competition had only been entered by the best of the best not only in Toho but in the various music schools throughout Japan.

"So, now I'd like to announce the names of the students who'll be representing our school in the competition: Wakabayashi Suzaku & Wakabayashi Ayumi in the Duet division-" He almost choked on the rice he was eating. Hitting himself on his chest, his cheeks red, he wondered if the principal had pronounced a name wrongly. It wasn't until he heard the cheers and shouts from the other remaining students that he knew that he wasn't going deaf.

"No way! Good job Wakabayashi!" Haneda Keigo grinned and gave him a congratulatory thump on the back. The girls, including Natsuki, started to crowd around him, congratulating him, squealing about how he would be playing with his sister.

"...posted on the bulletin board momentarily." The moment the announcement ended, they all rushed out, making a beeline for the board right outside their classroom. He sat there for a while in shock.

"I...was selected..." He whispered, as if to reassure himself, then he too went to look at the bulletin board. Sure enough, a teacher had just walked away and a large crowd had gathered around where the notice was sure to be.

"Ah! Wakabayashi-kun!" He heard someone cry and suddenly everyone was shaking his hand, thumping him on the back, congratulating him, crushing him as they gave him congratulatory hugs (mostly from the girls) as they slowly parted a way to let him to the notice board.

The teachers of our school, Toho Gakuen, have decided on the following students:

Wakabayashi Suzaku & Wakabayashi Ayumi – Duo
Takemoto Kazuha – Stringed Instruments Solo
Nakamura Chika – Wind Instruments Solo
Tezuka Daisuke – Keyboard Instruments (Piano) Solo

If you have any complaints or want to withdraw from the competition, please contact the teacher who will be in charge of the competition: Sugiura Ichiro

He stared at the neatly printed notice for a while, noticing that both Kazuha and Daisuke had been chosen as well, and that Kenichi hadn't. He resisted the urge to smile at the thought of how Ayumi would react the moment she saw him, upon seeing that they really were doing a duet together.

Well then, let's see how this is going to turn out...

((@ Momo and Akane: It's fine with me.:P
@ rest of the Toho RPers: You guys are all free to use my announcement that I used in my post))

"Told ya, Kazu-chan~! I knew that with your talent, that you'd be selected!" was Hikari's cheerful comment as Kazuha was looking at the flyer.

It wasn't long before several other students had also congratulated her as well for getting selected for the competition. Kazuha was just one of those students that most people figured that she'd get chosen because of her talent, and despite them not being surprised that she was chosen wanted to congratulate her anyway.

"Congrats, Takemoto-chan!"

"You're totally gonna dominate the stringed solo division!"

"Definitely! Way to represent Toho!"

Kazuha calmly thanked them, which seemed a little strange as you'd think she would have added a sarcastic remark to that. But the moment that she was able to get through the crowd, which wasn't hard as the students around her made a path for her to walk through, a huge smirk appeared on her face. She actually was genuinely happy that she was one of the students chosen to represent Toho in the national inter-school competition, but finding a way to smile in a genuine manner wasn't something that came naturally to her anyway. As a result, she ended up smirking without trying to.

Finally something interesting as school these days has been rather dull. It'd be a good chance to show off my skills and stick out in my own way and not be compared to Haru-neechan.

((So much shorter than my last post... xD))

"So, I thought, 'They'd look so cute together!' and then I befriended the two of them and introduced them and then the rest is history! They are the cutest couple on campus, don't you think?" Ayumi asked her close friends while they had study hall, "Hey! Do you know Takemoto Kazuha, the prodigy violinist of the second years? She has this cr--"

Suddenly, the announcement came out.

"Whoa, really?" she asked. The two other girls next to fell to the floor. Ayumi tilted her head to the side. "...um...are you guys all right?"

"Shouldn't you be a little more excited than that? You're representing our school with your little brother!" one girl replied, "Ayumi-chan, you and your brother could go all the way! You have the skill!"

"...oh! Well, I don't want to ruin my reputation as a sophisticated lady, so I won't. But I really am happy that my brother and I get to play together~! Especially because Takemoto-chan's playing too! It's my chance, guys! I'm going to make them the happiest couple ever!"

"What about playing?"

"I'll do my best; I always do when it comes to contests like this. I'll be fired up and ready to go as always!"

"All right! More stories for us to talk about afterward!" her two friends exclaimed, "Remember at your recital when you wore that really frilly outfit with all those ribbons!"

"And the time she did that Ievan Polka song with an actual leek before she performed..."

"And then there was the time when she tried to perform sitting on Suzaku-kun's piano but then he shooed her away..."

"...ah yes. Those stories," she sighed, thinking about them, "The foolishness of youth, of course. But I swear this year I won't do anything stupid!"

"You sure? I mean, you say that every time you and Suzaku-kun are going to perform that you won't do something stupid, but then two weeks before you get pumped and then you plan something strange to happen during the concert...at least you're the best flutist I've ever heard at this school, or maybe they'd just kick you out!"

"...I swear! I'll concentrate all my energy on getting Takemoto and Suzaku together, and we'll have a normal, everyday concert. You'll help me, right?" she asked the two, 'Okay, good! Now, I'm going to pee. See you!" she exclaimed, running out the bathroom.

[OOC: Bella needs to go on. ;_;]

Daisuke pushed open the sliding doors of his classroom, the loud smash of metal against metal surprising some of the people in the room. Several of his classmates jumped, turned and stared at the perpetrator annoyedly, only to notice that it was the Tezuka Daisuke that had just been selected, and rushed up to congratulate him.

He brushed away the well-wishes with a simple 'Thanks' and scooted back to his desk. The seat next to him was empty.

Daisuke thought this odd. Chika should have been there by now, class was about to start.

He also needed someone to complain to.

"Oy, Namiki," he called out to the person nearest to him. "Have you seen Nakamura?"

Namiki shrugged and turned his back on Daisuke.

He sighed. That girl was always giving him a headache.

(OOC: I'm on vacation so this is all I can do for now! T.T I'm sorry)

Chika sighed as she sat on her couch. The thermometer in her mouth was slowly rising to a new temperature and she soon took it out to check.
"Crap! There is no way I can go today."
When she had got up that morning, Chika had felt dizzy and rushed to the bathroom to vomit.

Grabbing her cell phone, Chika quickly texted Daisuke.
'Hey Dai-Dai! I have a really bad fever and can't go to school today. I was thinking of going anyways, but I puked earlier and I feel way too dizzy to walk. I hope you're not to mad!
-Chika'

Happy with her text, Chika grabbed a kleenex to blow her nose, and then headed upstairs to lay down.

[OOC: @Bella: Eh, didn't know. ^_^;; No problem.]

The feeling of his phone vibrating in his pocket made Daisuke jump. He tentatively looked around for any teachers just waiting to capture and confiscate his mobile, but thankfully found none. He extracted it from his pocket and began to read the display.

You have 1 new message(s).

'Hey Dai-Dai! I have a really bad fever and can't go to school today. I was thinking of going anyways, but I puked earlier and I feel way too dizzy to walk. I hope you're not to mad!
-Chika'

Swiftly maneuvering his fingers over the keys, Daisuke typed up a reply to Chika's text message.

Aw, that must suck. :\ Want me to visit you later? If Emiri can come I'll bring her. AND GET WELL SOON OR DIE. D<

Satisfied at the short but meaningful (?) passage he had sent, Daisuke slumped back onto his desk. Several nearby classmates gave him disapproving looks, earning themselves Daisuke's well-practiced 'pissed-off' look.

He sighed, a different kind of sigh from his usual. He probably had to go practice later, and that meant that he had to actually enter one of the tiny, cramped rooms that filled the second floor of the school. Miyuki always complained that he was distrupting her work if he played at home, and she wasn't in a very good mood these few days, with four hit manga serieses to draw for every month.

Daisuke was jolted out of his thoughts when he heard the familiar sound of chair legs scraping against the floor. The teacher must have entered the room.

Sighing once more, he followed the other students and stood up to greet the teacher.

[My first post as Kenichi...wish me luck. And this is the right place to post it...right? ^^;]

Kenichi had been sleeping under a stairwell when the announcement was made. Well, to clarify, he had been sleeping up to the point when the announcement was made. He managed to wake up in time (admittedly, with his senses all half-functioning) to hear the last part about Suzaku and Ayumi. The following chaos efficiently robbed him of all of his remaining sleepiness.

"Wow. So both Suzaku and Ayumi-neesan managed to get in eh?" He muttered, walking back to the classroom with his hand unconsciously trying to flatten his messy hair.

Noticing the large crowd around the bulletin board, he smirked. Blatantly ignoring the sounds of protest as he elbowed his way to the front of the giant huddle, he found his best friend staring at the notice with an unusual glint in his eyes.

Clearing his throat, he tackled Suzaku, almost knocking him over.

"Su-kun! Congrats! You got selected eh?"

Chika's phone gave a happy chirp as she blew her nose and reached for her phone. It was a message from Daisuki! As soon as she read it she giggled slightly and began to reply.

'I'm not contagious or anything, just slightly dizzy. If you want, you can come over here to practice so you're not in the practice rooms alone! I would love it if Emiri-chan could come!! Also, if you do come over I was planning on making sausage soup, so give me a heads up and I'll make a lot more! Anything cool going on while I'm away?
-Chi'

Moving a few strands of her red hair from her eyes and rereading her message, Chika smiled and sent her text. Yawning slightly, Chika turned in her bed and tried to doze back off to sleep.

Daisuke felt his phone vibrate in his pocket. Pretending to search inside his desk for a book, he used the lid of it as a cover and pulled his mobile out from his pocket. He read the message quickly and shoved it back in, slamming the lid of his desk by mistake. The teacher tutted at him, and Daisuke gave him an apologetic wave.

Several female students behind him giggled, and Daisuke blushed slightly, annoyed and embarassed.

The teacher droned on. Daisuke, lazily flipping the pages of his textbook, played with a stray strand of hair that had fallen near his ear. He mentally noted to give a reply to Chika's text message, and to call Emiri if she was free.

His sister wouldn't need to be contacted. She cared less about him than her manga series, it seemed these days.

Sighing, he put his head on the open pages of his book.

"Tezuka! Books are for reading, not for use as pillows!"

Jolting out of his position, Daisuke flashed the teacher a sheepish smile and kept his back straight throughout the lesson.

Suzaku wasn't expecting the tackle from Kenichi. Wheezing, and absolutely sure that his lungs had been punctured, he whacked his friend on the arm.

"You didn't have to do that you know." He snapped. He was well aware that the students were now giggling, whispering and laughing at the two of them. He felt the tiniest bit of shame that they had seen him lose his temper.

"Why are you all outside! Get into the room, it's time for class!" The students jumped as Midoriyama-sensei's loud voice brought them back to earth. Rubbing his chest, Suzaku walked to his seat, only to have his breath knocked out of him again as their teacher gave his back a congratulatory thump. Wincing, he blearily nodded as Midoriyama congratulated him, and collapsed into his seat, groaning.

He couldn't wait for school to end.

Daisuke was trying his hardest to keep focused on whatever Kakizaki-sensei was saying, but his mind kept wandering off to the latest issue os Shounen Jump, the next volume of a random manga series and finally, the competition.

Somehow he felt he wasn't ready for it yet, but he brushed that thought out of his mind for now. He'd think about it later.

"Tezuka!"

Daisuke jumped out of his seat.

"Y-yes...?" he muttered, startled at the sudden outburst from his teacher.

He was then instructed to pass a large sheaf of papers to one of the second-year classes.

"... That's Wakabayashi-senpai's class..." thought Daisuke, his eyes widening as the weight of the paper nearly brought him down.

"Get going!" Kakizaki yelled at him, and he quickly scrambled out of the classroom. Stumbling down the halls, he managed to find the door of his senior's classroom, and knocked uncertainly.

The door opened and Daisuke cleared his throat.

"E-Excuse me. I was told..." he indicated the papers he was clutching by holding out the stack.

“Wakabayashi. I have to go and get something from the office. Keep the class under control while I’m gone, alright?” Suzaku nodded, although he knew that the moment their teacher stepped out of the class, it was pointless to try and keep them quiet. A loud uproar of sound filled the room, and he shot a glance at Kenichi, who was one of the loudest, showing something in his book to the girl next to him, who in return was blinking coquettishly. Suzaku suppressed a groan at the sight of his flirtatious friend.

“Could you all keep quiet? For just five minutes, perhaps?” A few of the more studious girls snapped, as they tried to concentrate on whatever they were doing.

Through the veil of noise, Suzaku heard someone knock on the door. Thankful for the opportunity to stretch his legs, he walked over, wholly expecting to find a student or teacher from the neighbouring classes to be standing in front of him, lecturing him on keeping the class quiet.

He didn’t expect to find Daisuke standing outside their classroom with a thick stack of papers in his hands.

"E-Excuse me. I was told..."

He raised an eyebrow.

“Tezuka-kun. What are you doing here?" Suzaku loooked down at the papers.

"Ah. The transcripts. Finally. Kakizaki-sensei promised them weeks ago.” He suddenly remembered that he wanted to talk to Daisuke, and shot a glance at the ruckus behind him.

“Can I talk to you about something? Outside perhaps?”

Some time had past and Kazuha was now back in her classroom. She was glancing at her book as she heard the teacher had to leave the room for a little bit and asked Suzaku to be in charge. As soon as the teacher was gone, the room became pretty rowdy.

"Sometimes I seriously wonder how school is even a necessity..." Kazuha mumbled in a sarcastic tone as placed her book on her desk, took out music sheets, and began writing on them. She had only begun writing a few notes when she heard Suzaku's voice as he tried to quiet down the class, which caused her eyes to lift off the papers and glanced towards him. Her eyes only stayed on him for mere seconds before she shook her head and began writing once again.

Wakabayashi-kun... it only takes a single sound of your voice and you instantly get my attention. I can't even control it anymore; it's like an impulse and I just look at you. Man, this is stupid... me and my stupid infatuation with you. These feelings, they really don't mean anything -- I'm not actually falling in love with you, right?

Kazuha didn't want to answer her own thoughts as she really didn't know what the real answer was. If she had asked Kazuki or Haruka, they would more than likely say that she was actually falling for Suzaku. Even if she could admit it to herself, she didn't exactly understand what made her attracted to him in the first place.

((Gah, the shortness~ well least it's a break from me packin' for college. XD))
