Name, Age: Melanie, 15 Do you play an instrument? If yes, which one and for how long?: I used to play the piano for a few months, but quit. I joined a choir though. 0.0 Do you have any RPing experiences? Yes! I roleplayed as Arai Momo here before! (: How often will you be able to role-play?: As often as I can which is about maybe once or twice during the weekends because I don't like to go on the computer on the weekdays. It distracts me off my homework. ): [I somehow manage to still go on anways. xD] Character Name: Asari Haru, 鯏 春 Pic of Haru ! Copyright to someone for this cute artwork! I just turned it into a lineart. Ka-chan still needs to color it for me. 0.0 General Education Department or Music Department? Which year?: Music Department, 1st year [cyber cookies ? >D] Does your character play an instrument? If yes, which one and how well does your character play it ("ability level")?: Haru started off with a passion for the piano and attended lessons, but her love for it slowly faded away. She was never a quick learner and unfortunately stopped before she could show her true colors. Nowadays, she rarely plays the piano. Only when she feels a deep, depressing moment or on the verge of barely breathing, she sits down, writes a song and a tune for it. However, she only felt that way once in her life. Character Description: Standing at 163 cm. (or 5 ft. 3 in.) from the ground, Asari Haru can be considered average for a normal Japanese teenager, but she's the shortest within her family. Even Chiya, the little "baby" of the Asari household, has outgrown her older sister. At times, Haru feels ashamed at how her sister, who is two years younger, is now towering over her. This sudden growth spurt sent her skyrocketing and now standing like a giant. Fun insults, such as "Midget!" or "Shorty!" were usually aimed at her, but after many years of listening to the same things, Haru just smirks and shrugs it off. In exchange for her "lack" of height, her parents have given her the amazing gift of mesmerizing eyes. Their big, round shape, filled with curiosity and sarcasm, and sharp pink color have made her well-known among her fellow classmates in middle school. They are her best features, for you could spot their rosy shine from a mile away. You can call her silky, chocolate brown hair a "gift" as well. It ends above her shoulders, nice and short, so they wouldn't get in her way. Ever since she was a child, Haru's mother, Nanako, would constantly take her to a salon to get a haircut. Saki believed that long hair was too much of a hassle to take care of and you have to waste more money on shampoo, so Haru got use to having short hair and kept the style. Growing up, Haru had everything she needed: food, clothing, shelter and a loving (sometimes dysfunctional) family. Unfortunately, her parents owned a convenience store that opened all day (8 a.m. to 11 p.m. to be exact), so the house lacked adult supervision from morning to night. Asari Kira, the eldest brother, had the responsibility of babysitting his younger sisters every day of the week. Being the teenage boy he was, video games were his addiction and it quickly became Haru and Chiya's drug. She was now a hardcore gamer, playing whenever time allowed her to. After spending her entire childhood staying up past her bedtime to play video games in the dark with her older brother, it is no surprise that Haru's eyes are slowly failing on her. After purchasing a brand name glasses with a black plastic frame, she was prescribed to wear it whenever she wasn't reading or writing. It's imperative for her to wear it since her eyesight is so bad, but the headaches that occur reprimand Haru from doing so. She stopped wearing them during the day, except during her classes to see the board and playing video games. When Haru was in elementary school, she ate 3 meals a day just like everyone else, but as she started attending middle school, the craving for food increased dramatically. Quickly becoming the glut of the family, Haru needed at least 5 meals a day. She would bring her packed bento to school for lunch and a heavy snack to secretly chow on during class. Being the non-sporty type, she would have gained weight, but thank goodness for high metabolism. Since her body was lean and slim, not too skinny nor too fat, she never had to care much about her weight. As a child, Haru had a passion for music and singing, so she begged down on her knees for her parents to buy her a piano. Her brain was bursting with creativity during her young years so, she wanted to write music and create a melody for it. However, her parents signed her up for lessons with a vicious teacher, whose teaching style was strict and cruel. Constant arguments with her teacher and new music to learn weekly led Haru to slowly begin hating the piano. Plus, she was never a quick learner and it took a long time to understand things. Time passed and Haru stopped attending her lessons and shunned her favorite instrument. Her family watched their white grand piano gather dust until their middle child entered Seiso Academy. They forced her to attend the Music Department, not giving in to her rants and tantrums, just so they could see a smile creep on her face as her long, slim fingers gently press the keys of the first piano they bought her. Aside from being stubborn and not wanting to forgive her past to start anew, Haru sees herself as being sarcastic and humorous. Making people laugh and turning their frown upside down gives her a joyous feeling. A habit of Haru's is to pop in sarcastic remarks or a dialogue from a video game. Not to mention she claims herself as a procrastinator. Her trait of being lazy was inherited by her brother and so she never wants to work on anything until the last minute. These traits make up Asari Haru, the crazy video game otaku. Relationships: Asari Nanako (mom) and Shiro (dad): Not only do they work to their limit everyday to earn money for their family, but they'll do anything to make their family happy. After they both agreed to sign Haru up for piano lessons, they believed that it would open doors for her in the future and will keep her constantly smiling. However, when Haru came home from her lessons complaining that she wanted to stop, they kept on forcing her and tell her to stick with it. Now they regret it, for their daughter neglects the thing she once loved the most. They're trying their best to get Haru to play once again and she knows how hard they're working, but she won't give in. Asari Kira (older brother): Action, adventure, RPG, driving, first-person shooting, you name it. Every game of those genres, Kira has played it. Spending many hours of his day in front of his TV screen attracted Haru to playing as well. They share a relationship most siblings do not. Many find their brother/sister annoying and trying to disturb each other as much as they can. However, Haru and Kira crack jokes and laugh together. He may be lazy, unpassionate and even more lazy, but she secretly looks up to him. He attends Seiso as a third year in the General Education department. Asari Chiya (little sister): As the youngest child, Chiya has a childish demeanor. She whines, complains and is stubborn, but is humorous like the rest of her siblings. Haru spends the most time with Chiya, finding her most precious moments are with her. Though they may fight over the smallest things at time, it's usually settled with the older sister apologizing. She's currently attending a middle school, but in two years, Chiya will attend Seiso as well. Otori Shun: Shun has been the Asari's neighbors for as long as they could remember. She remembers him once being a passionate and dedicated person, but his attitude towards life now grinds her gears. She would mock him and call him 'annoying', but deep down, she knows that she's only saying that because he reminds Haru a bit of herself. Not to mention she considers him one of her best friends, but she doesn't like to admit it to the general public. Sample RP (>=10 lines): It was around 2 o'clock in the afternoon, which, in Haru's time, is gaming time. She and her siblings were all huddled near their plasma screen T.V., all cuddled on one couch. Each one were shouting unnecessary words and phrases, tightly gripping the controller, ready to chuck it at the screen. “KILL HIM!! DON'T LET HIM LIVE!” Haru used her index finger to push up her glasses and immediately slammed her fingers back onto the buttons. The dark and sinister emperor was throwing a goblet at her. It was too intense. As if a miracle had occurred, Haru's ninja missed the flying object by a few millimeters. Perspiration began forming on her forehead when her brother began screaming at her to be more careful. There were no more potions left and the healer of the party had bee KO'd. Unfortunately, a gold spoon torpedoed in her direction and the female gamer was caught off-guard. BAM! Her life gauge reduced to 50% from the impact. Her eyes widened."WHAT! NO!! WHY?!" Haru winced, for the eldest child of the Asari family began screaming in such a high pitch that the sisters felt like their ears bleeding. We're so close, but so far. Then, the climax of the game occurred. The emperor had less than 30% of his health left. Victory had never smelled so sweet. “Yes...yes...yes...if I don't kill you now I'm going to kill myself...yes...yes...yes....” Haru bit her lip, trying her best to avoid the attacks thrown at her. She glanced over to her siblings for a quick second. Chiya was rapidly shaking her leg and Kira was already smiling from the satisfaction of winning. A smirk crept onto Haru's face as she realized this was the end. They were going to destroy that king once and for all. "This is it..." She whispered under her breath, imagining about the scene after this battle. However... GAME OVER. For an instant, the entire country of Japan could have sworn they heard a “NOOOO!!”[/i] |
