Name, Age: Lui, 15 Do you play an instrument? If yes, which one and for how long?: Umm, I played the violin for a couple of months last summer, but I had to drop it after school started because I wanted to focus on grades.XDD;; Character you apply for: Aoi Kaji How often will you be able to role-play?: To be perfectly honest, I don't think I'll be able to reply to threads more than two or three times a week. I'm currently admin of two roleplaying sites at the moment, and they take up a lot of my online time. Also, school doesn't let out here until the middle of March, so I need to take that in account as well. However, I'll do my very best to be active! Picture of character: ![]() Character Description (biography, behaviour, relationships...): Aoi Kaji was born on November 12th to a respectable family of no little wealth. His father is a member of the House of Representatives, and his grandfather is the owner of a prestigious hospital. Like Yunoki, he tends to address everyone politely, due to his upbringing in a wealthy family. Unlike the flutist, however, he was given more freedom as he was growing up, and as a result is more carefree and honest, and has a rebellious streak of his own. Also, Aoi has a frank, gentle innocence that makes him completely unlike the purple-haired sempai. He is the only other person besides Kahoko who has suspicions about Yunoki's pretension, and because of this, his dislike of him is obvious and unapologetic. He is sometimes considered the poster boy for perfect, since he is handsome, tall, smart, athletic, popular with girls, and just generally well-liked. As a child, he took after his mother-- who was, like Kaji's father, a former student of Seisou Academy-- and learned to play the violin. An incident in his youth (presumably, he compared himself to other violinists such as Ousaki and Tsukimori) caused him to drop it, however, and it wasn't until he was well into his teenage years that he took up music again. This time, though, instead of going back to the violin, Kaji took up the viola in order to avoid comparison with other people. Kaji is a recent transfer to Seisou Academy, a move which surprised (and delighted, in the female population's case) most of the students, since he had already been enrolled in another, well-to-do high school. This sudden decision stemmed from an experience he had one afternoon, while walking home from school. He had happened to pass by the park on his route, and had paused for a few moments to gaze at the ocean when a ball rolled into his foot. He picked it up, and was in the process of returning it to its owners, when he heard the strains of a familiar instrument. Further investigation revealed that there was a female violinist playing alone. Kaji observed her for a few moments, noting the clear, honest quality of her music, and the way she looked at her violin with so much devotion it was almost lover-like; he became enamored of her almost immediately. When he returned to that spot, however, she did not return. It was only after another misadventure (one that involved a very uncomfortable bear costume) that he was able to hear her play again, and his resolve was strengthened. Recognizing the uniform that she had been wearing as that of the general education students' from Seisou Academy, he immediately applied for a transfer, and was soon enrolled into the school. His first meeting with Kahoko (as she was the violinist in the park) was a little too familiar, and soon a lot of rumors about their relationship spread throughout the school. It was soon cleared up, however, and it seemed to many that Aoi Kaji admired Hino as a goddess. However, there are still hints of his desire to go out with her, although he hasn't thought much about it. Kaji is naturally friendly with most people, with the exception of Azuma Yunoki. In particular, he has a special relationship with Tsuchiura Ryotarou, another fellow second year and General Education student. Not long after Kaji's transfer into Seisou, the two of them had a tennis match. Tsuchiura had generally been considered the most athletic of all the second years, and it was to the surprise of most of the people watching that he lost to the new transfer student. It was a close match, however, and as a result Kaji is just as comfortable with the pianist as he is with Kahoko. He is brilliant at almost every subject, although he doesn't let it get to his head. Like Hihara, he is inherently cheerful (although markedly less so when compared to the trumpet player), and always has a positive outlook on things. He is a member of the tennis club, and, despite his viola-playing, is part of the General Education section of Seisou. He is not as skilled at music as the other students, but he makes a sincere effort to practice in order to be able to stay with Kahoko. note;; umm, all this info is based on the manga up to chapter 51.xD;; -hasn't read all of the current chapters yet- I'm sorry for any errors. edit;; uhh. edited.8D; Your goals? (what do you plan with your character?) I'd like to be able to dig deeper into the psyche of Kaji. From what I've seen so far of him, he's one of the better-constructed characters of La Corda. Unlike the rest, he doesn't have amazing skill of the concours participants, or the unique sense of heart that Kahoko puts into her music, but he's dedicated and he practices sincerely. I think it's great character-formation for him, and it shows that not everyone who takes up an instrument has that special touch. As for the romantic side of it [who can have a reverse harem without the romance, after all?XD], I'm open to any pairing that comes up. Personally, I think Kaji's relationship with Kahoko borders more on adoration rather than love, but that's speaking from the perspective of a true-blue TsukiHino fan. Short sample RP (~10 lines): It was getting hot in here. Aoi Kaji wasn't usually one for complaints-- his almost ridiculous propensity for looking at the brighter side of things made whining difficult-- but there was always a first time for everything. It was probably unmanly to complain about the temperature, but then he was beginning to think that the definitions of masculinity that he had grown up alongside were rather unforgiving. After all, it wasn't like the epitome of manliness ever walked around wearing a huge, velveteen bear suit to the opening day of a department store. It certainly didn't seem like proper first-son behavior. He swatted uselessly at his large round head, and wondered if it would be too indecent (and potentially scarring to all the children milling around) if he gave up on the entire enterprise and disrobed then and there. That idea was soon kicked soundly out of mind, however; he hadn't spent the last quarter-hour trying to pull on the infernal pink suit just to give up in the first five minutes. There were several ramifications that he was going to have to face later on, but he ignored them all; the store manager had probably never forced himself into a walking sauna just to listen to a girl play the violin, and as such, was not worthy of as much respect as someone who had done so before. A trickle of sweat inched down his face, near his ear, and he batted at himself with a bear paw once more. Kaji was proud of his styled, fair-colored hair-- no one else he knew had the coloring-- but there were times when he wished he could just grab a razor and just shave all of it off. This was one of those times. It was insane how high the temperature could get in here, and he was in a department store, no less. It's so warm, he thought feverishly, ignoring a pair of children who were squealing at the big round bear with the red balloon, but once this ends... The sudden resurfacing of the manager's voice-- Kaji was really beginning to hate him now-- caught his attention, and he swiveled his head with some difficulty in his direction. What he found there was enough to make him simultaneously bless and curse whatever gods were looking down at him just then; this wasn't exactly how he'd wanted to meet the girl of his fantasies. For there she was, the ruby-haired virtuoso with that wonderful, kind smile. He suddenly felt that the last twenty minutes masquerading around as a pink, velveteen bear were all worth it, because she had turned that gentle, megawatt, makes-you-weak-at-the-knees smile on him. The expression on her face was enough to make his heart skip a beat-- it was focused completely on him, with almost as much rapt attention as she had given her violin. "Kyaa!" she cried, running over to hug him (in bear form) around the waist, "So cute! So big!" He hadn't known that his cheeks could even turn that shade of red before.
