Who: Adagio/Manami/Keiichi
Where: A music store then ice cream parlor
When: A nice Saturday morning
===========================================================================================

When Adagio awoke to her alarm clock, she was in a wonderful mood.

The weather had been very nice for the past few weeks, and the nights were warm enough for her to leave her windows open. It was a lot better than back home where they were still getting cold drafts every now and then. It was a shame for them really, and it was one of the few things that made Adagio glad she was not back with her friends at home.

When she thought of friends, Adagio's mind almost immediately shifted to her new close friend. After meeting Mori Manami a few weeks earlier, the two girls had started becoming close friends with each other through talking to each other on their break periods and after school. They were becoming so close actually, that they had exchanged phone numbers so they could speak to each other on the weekends.

Adagio had mentioned that she still did not know where everything in town was, and Manami had happily suggested that they take a walk on the town together just before the two girls went home on Friday. This was an offer that Adagio could not refuse, and so she agreed as soon as the words crossed the other girls lips.

What should I wear for a walk on the town? I'm not really in a girly mood today, but I am in the mood for something cute. Hmmm...

Shifting through her closet, Adagio picked out different clothes before she found the perfect outfit and slipped off her night clothes to get dressed.

Thank god for night showers!!

When she came out of her bathroom from brushing her teeth, Adagio was wearing a simple red button up short sleeved shirt and black blue jean shorts.

Hair tie, hair tie, hair tie.

Throwing her hair up into a high pony tail, Adagio scribbled out a note reminding her mother where she was going before going downstairs and into the kitchen to get a light breakfast.

I wonder if I should bring a jacket. Nah, it's too nice out for one.

After gobbling down a handful of grapes and her favorite yogurt, Adagio finally slipped on her black ballerina flats and headed out the door locking it on her way.

I'm glad she dosen't live to far away, I am pumped to get into the city. Ririko has been so busy lately, she hasn't been able to show me anything.

After walking for a little while, Adagio came upon Minami's house and marveled at how pretty it was before going up to the front door and ringing the doorbell once.

I hope this outfit is appropriate, I am showing a bit of leg....

Though she was worried about her shorts, any normal person would think that they were a good length, and were most certainly longer than most teenagers now a days.

After a few moments, Adagio heard the door open and a boy slightly younger than her stood in front of her.

"Ah, is Manami ready to go? I'm Adagio Brown, we are supposed to be going into town today."

Adagio gave her best smile as she talked to the boy, and he looked at her for a moment before telling her to wait and going into the house to retrieve his sister.

They really look alike, I wonder what it's like to have a sibling.

Manami rubbed her chin thoughtfully as she gave her reflection in the mirror a quick onceover. Donning a comfortable light blue blouse and a pair of neatly pressed khaki capri pants, she was almost ready to go out for the day. All that was left to do was fix her slightly damp hair, which was hanging limply down her shoulders. She reached for a comb and gingerly ran it through the longish brown locks, and afterwards clipped a hair pin on both sides of her hair. Peering closer to the mirror, she brought up a hand to sweep the stray bangs away from her eyes, when she heard a knock on the door.

"Manami-nee," came Tetsu's slightly muffled voice from the outside, "your friend's here already."

"I'll be right there!" she called out, straightening up her posture. She gave herself one last look in the mirror before grabbing her purse and slipping out of the room.

Upon reaching the stair landing, Manami padded towards the kitchen where her grandmother was currently washing dishes. "Obaasan, I'll be going out now."

The water in the sink ceased running when the middle-aged lady moved to close the tap. Turning to her granddaughter, she gave her scrutinizing look before giving a nod of permission. "Don't stay out too late," she reminded firmly, before going back to her work. Manami nodded and gave her a polite bow, uttering a cheerful "Itekimasu~" as she made her way towards the door.

Stopping by the shoe rack near the doorway, Manami took out her favorite pair of flats and quickly slipped them on before rushing out to meet her friend. Upon spotting Adagio, a delighted smile crossed her lips as she raised a hand in greeting.

"I hope I didn't make you wait too long," she said with a sheepish chuckle. Closing the door behind her, Manami peered at her watch before turning to her kouhai again. "So, let's go?"

When Adagio saw Minami at the door she smiled happily and waved.

"Nah, I just got here so I didn't wait long. Let's go!"

When she looked at Manami's outfit, she questioned her own choice of clothes once more.

Better to ask her and then go home really quick than get to town and get stared at.

As the two began to walk into town, Adagio turned to Manani and walked backwards in front of her to get her attention.

"Do you think my shorts are too short? I don't want to walk around town looking like a hussy!!"

Laughing slightly, Adagio waved her hands comically as she waited for her friends answer.

As she waited the two passed a few people that waved in friendly greeting, and Adagio waved back in return. She had seen some of the faces before when she would go out of the house to pick up groceries, but other faces were new. Mostly the people who waved to the girls were older shop keepers who were out reorganizing their wares or sweeping their front steps.

I wonder if I will be so cheerful when I get older? I do hope so.

The more she waited, the more her mind slipped into her own thoughts. After a moment to much of not paying attention, Adagio tripped slightly and thought it better to turn around and walk normally.

Wouldn't want to make to much of a spectacle of myself.

"Do you think my shorts are too short? I don't want to walk around town looking like a hussy!!"

Manami turned her attention toward her cheerful kouhai as soon as she stepped in up in front of her. After giving the outfit a thoughtful inspection, Manami shook her head slightly as she gave Adagio a reassuring smile.

"No, they're just the right length," she commented in an ascertaining voice. The shorts reached a little below her mid-thighs, but while it showed a bit of skin, it did not expose too much. In fact, it flattered her shapely legs that Manami had no doubt would make heads turn.

Falling into a leisurely pace, Manami took in the fresh morning breeze while slightly stretching her arms behind her. The comfortably coolness was invigorating, filling her with energy and enforcing her cheerful disposition. As they walked past the many shops down the street, the shopkeepers, mostly elderly people, waved at the two girls with bright smiles as they went about their tasks. Manami nodded at them in acknowledgment, giving a wave whenever she would greet them with an upbeat "Ohayou~"

Adagio was still walking backwards, enthusiastically waving at each person who would greet them, when she suddenly lost her balance and tripped slightly. Fortunately, she was able to steady herself and prevent herself from landing on the ground even before Manami could lend a hand.

"Close one," Manami mumbled in relief as Adagio turned to the correct direction and began walking normally. Falling in step beside the freshman, Manami gave her a mischievous but good-natured smile. "Careful next time," she reminded placidly.

When Manami assured her that her shorts were long enough, Adagio relaxed happily. Short shorts could be embarrassing to not only herself, but also to the people around her. She was sure that Manami would not want to be seen walking with someone so scantily clad.

When Adagio heard what her friend said to her about falling, she could only smirk at the warning as she threw her arms up and behind her head.

"I'm pretty agile my dear friend, a simple trip isn't going to throw me down so easily."

As they started to get closer and closer to the heart of the town, Adagio noticed that the friendly service of older people was replaced my hip young people who worked in department stores. Though there were no extremely big crowds around, she could see groups of teenagers and adults walking lazily with their friends and laughing.

A few boys passed her and Manami, and she could tell that as they passed they turned their heads to stare at them.

"Hey Manami, I think those boys were looking at you."

As a way to get back for Manami teasing her, Adagio decided to tease back. It was all in good fun, but Adagio could not help but to smirk a little teasingly.

"Even if the guy is cute you have to promise not to leave me alone in the city today okay? I don't like being a third wheel, but I especially don't like being left behind."

As she said this, Adagio began to laugh happily.

It had been a while since she had someone to tease around with, and it felt good to know that her new friend was the easy going type.

"But really girl, what is on our agenda today."

Deciding it best not to push too many of Manami's buttons so early on in the day, Adagio calmed herself down and began to look through the shop windows as they passed them.

"I'm pretty agile my dear friend, a simple trip isn't going to throw me down so easily."

Chuckling slightly at the comment, Manami gave her companion an amused sidelong glance. "Seems like it. But still doesn't hurt to be careful, ne?" Grinning, she held up a peace sign towards the other girl as they continued the walk to town.

The smaller shops were gradually replaced by bigger buildings as they approached the commercial center of downtown Yokohama. The bustle in the streets grew as small groups of families, friends and lovers walked about, glancing at the displays and visiting shops to make purchases. Sale posters and announcement of new offers were everywhere; some of them piqued Manami's curiosity, but they weren't compelling enough to drive the girl to make any unplanned purchases.

"Hey Manami, I think those boys were looking at you."

"Huh?" Manami, rather preoccupied with looking at the shops, did not notice the boys that Adagio was referring to. Looking over her shoulder, she caught glimpse of the said group. Noting that two of them were still looking at their, or rather, Adagio's direction, Manami turned to the younger girl with a mischievous smirk playing on her lips. But before she could open her mouth, Adagio directed a teasing grin at her, and began speaking again.

"Even if the guy is cute you have to promise not to leave me alone in the city today okay? I don't like being a third wheel, but I especially don't like being left behind."

Manami laughed good-naturedly at this. "Actually, I think they were looking at you," she pointed out, not being able to stifle the playful grin that surfaced on her lips.

"And I didn't come here to spend the day with some random guy, so you don't have to worry," she added after a while, giving her kouhai a reassuring smile. Looking around thoughtfully as soon as Adagio asked what their agenda for the day was, Manami racked her mind for any possible activities.

"Ah," she said after a while, "why don't I take you to the music store first? You mentioned that you wanted to look for some violin pieces that weren't in the library, right?" Walking ahead, she beckoned for the other girl to follow her.

When Manami told her that the boys were actually looking at her, Adagio could not help but to blush a little. She was used to teasing other people about boys looking at them, but when it came to it being the other way around, she could not help but to blush. Though a good many of her friends considered her to be pretty, Adagio still felt that she was far off from the girl you would expect boys to take a second glance at. She felt that she was just to much on the muscular side to be considered 'pretty'.

Not bothering to reply to Manami's earlier statement, Adagio picked up her pace so she could catch up to her sempai.

"That sounds cool to me, I've been dying to get a few extra pieces of music anyways. I made a list actually, but I think I left it at home, let me check."

Digging into her pockets, Adagio pulled out her single house key as well as her money before replacing them and shrugging her shoulders.

"Yep they must be at home. I think if I see them I would be able to tell that they were the one I was looking for though."

As the two made their way around a corner, Adagio spotted a store that immediately caught her eye.

She could tell it was the music store by the violin and the viola hanging in the window, and became excited. Though she already owned her own violin, Adagio loved to admire the older models and to hear the rich sounds of higher quality instruments.

"Ohhhh!"

Practically running to the front entrance of the building, Adagio only glanced back for a second before turning her eyes to the glass once more.

"Is this the place Manami?"

Adagio could already guess that this indeed was the right place, but had to make completely sure before she went barging into some store.

As soon as they had rounded a corner, a familiar wooden sign, spelling out 'Higashi's Music Emporium' in elegantly calligraphed Kanji characters perched on a treble staff against a pale white background, loomed ahead. Manami could already see the hint of browns on the display window - a single line of violins, violas and guitars neatly arranged for the world to see. Amidst the noise and murmurs around her, she heard the high-pitched tinkling of wind chimes as the shop's door opened and a mother and son emerged, walking in the other direction with a violin case in tow. Her face broke into a smile.

The shop was, by no means, a salient one. The stores on both sides of it overshadowed it in terms of height. It didn't look all that big and elegant from the outside, but it was considered as one of Yokohama's finest and most extensive music stores.

Manami had first come to the shop at the age of six, when her uncle Shinichi accompanied her to get piano books for her formal lessons. When she was old and knowledgeable enough to choose her own piano books, she went by herself and got acquainted with the store owners, a middle-aged man who had a passion for wind instruments, and his twenty-something-year-old son who was a budding conductor studying in the same college as her uncle. She became one of the shops patrons and would constantly go there if she needed something for her classes, or if she just wanted to get a new piece that wasn't in the school library.

Upon seeing the store, Adagio ran towards it, looking excited. Manami watched her with a small smile as she stopped by the glass window to admire the instruments on display.

"Is this the place Manami?"

Manami bobbed her head cheerfully when Adagio's inquiring eyes glanced at her. "Yup, that's it. It looks like a small store from the outside but it has lots of high-quality instruments and tons of musical pieces." She stopped before the glass window to briefly look at the instruments neatly fixed on the display case, before turning back to Adagio. "Shall we go inside then?"

The last note faded ever so softly into the morning light. A slight smile crossed Keiichi's features; he had been playing the same beautiful yet mysterious-sounding song since the night before. He hadn't been keeping track of exactly how long he'd been working on it-- maybe days, maybe weeks, or maybe he had just started last night. That particular piece of information was irrelevant to him; all he knew was that he had finally mastered the piece after lots of practice, and needed a new song to work on.

Keiichi flipped absently through some music books that contained various songs, waiting for one to catch his eye. He had already played that one, that one, that one, that one... Keiichi began to think that he needed to buy a new music book. He stopping turning the pages and tried to think of the best music store he knew of.

One hour later, Keiichi was walking down a rather crowded street, passing groups of talkative and energetic people. His hair was in its signature stylish mess, and his clothing had been chosen from a closet filled with many fashionable clothes his older sister had sent to him.

Keiichi was listening to his music player, and was so engrossed in the sounds he was listening to that he failed to notice all the heads that turned as he passed. He didn't hear several exclamations of "Look at that guy!" and "BISHOUNEN!"

Finally, Keiichi reached his destination. He was standing outside a rather plain-looking music store with a wooden sign reading 'Higashi's Music Emporium'. He knew that the store boasted many wonderful music pieces, having purchased many items from the store before. He didn't have a particular piece in mind that he wanted to buy, but he knew without doubt that he would find a good one.

As soon as the two girls had stepped into the store, Adagio immediately went off to look by herself. It was not that she was trying to be rude, but that was the way she checked out things. Though she knew she came out with Manami, she did not want the girl to feel like she had to spend every moment with her. This was especially true now that they were in a music store.

There was only two places that for certain Adagio would leave people behind to go off to look for things. The first place was a book store, where she would be next to someone for one moment, and be gone the next. The second place was a music store, whether is be CDs or actual musical instruments and sheet music.

"Oh wow! Look at that, it is such a beauty. OH! It's zebra stripped on the back too! I love the zebra stripped ones."

Adagio was practically coddling the vintage violin she had picked up, all the while not actually holding it very tightly. Anyone passing by could tell that even though she was talking about it with fervor, she was holding it as gently as glass.

Placing the violin back onto it's display stand safely, Adagio looked over a few of the shorter shelves to find Manami. She did not want the girl to feel ditched, and she was just about to go look for her when she heard the bell on the door ring.

Once before Adagio could remember being called a dog, and in true dog fashion Adagio turned her head quickly to the door to see who had entered and was shocked to find a familiar face.

Eh! Isn't that Shimizu-kun. I must be seeing things. No, that's him!

For a moment Adagio panicked for no apparent reason and then quickly snuck her way towards Manami. When she reached the other girl, she was in a very mild state of hysteria.

"Ah Manami what should I do?! Shimizu-kun is here! We are both partners for this project we have in class, but I don't know if I should approach him here. Usually I would just approach people, but I don't know... What do you think?"

Looking up to her sempai questioningly, Adagio tilted her head slightly making her ponytail bob with her head. It was rather cute in a way, but it was also apparent how desperate she was for an answer.

As soon as they had stepped through the door, Adagio dashed off and disappeared in one of the aisle, leaving Manami by the door, blinking in slight surprise. She never knew Adagio was that excited to go to a music store. Shaking her head slightly as an amused smile spread on her lips, the brunette walked inside and gave the store owner a polite bow before padding off to one of the nearby shelves containing sheet music.

Only a handful of people were in the store; all quietly minding their own businesses as they moved up and down the aisles, inspecting shelves of music books and CDs, instruments on display, and varieties of accessories and cleaning materials. Occasionally, the sound of a piano or a guitar would break the silence enveloping the place, as new instruments were tested for their sound and quality before they were purchased.

Manami busied herself with scanning the titles neatly arranged on the wooden shelf before her, vaguely wondering if she would come across a rare piece today. Bobbing her head slightly to an energetic tune playing in her head, she ran her fingers against the spines of the books as her eyes skimmed over the text. Chopin. Schubert. Schumann. Beethoven. Bach. The usual names. She randomly pulled a book, which turned out to be a Debussy collection, and flipped through the pages. Noting some pieces of interest, Manami moved to the side and leaned against the shelf as she looked through the book more thoroughly. In her concentration, she failed to notice the tinkling of the bell, signaling the arrival of a new customer.

"Manami!"

A strangled call made Manami look up from the book. Adagio was briskly making her way to her, a hint of panic shrouding her features. The expression on her kouhai's face made Manami's brow furrow in wonder.

"Ah Manami what should I do?! Shimizu-kun is here! We are both partners for this project we have in class, but I don't know if I should approach him here. Usually I would just approach people, but I don't know... What do you think?"

As she listened to Adagio, Manami gave the store a sweeping glance and soon enough, spotted the curly-haired boy Adagio was referring to. He was standing rather dazedly by the door, eyes half-lidded and a sleepy expression on his face. Manami didn't know the freshman cellist except by name and appearance but she greatly admired his talent for the cello after witnessing his wonderful performances during the concours.

"Go and talk to him," she encouraged with a smile as she turned to Adagio and gave the girl a little nudge on the shoulder, "there's nothing to be shy about -- you're classmates after all and there's nothing wrong with making friendly talk outside of school, right?"

Seeing that the hesitant expression was still on the younger girl's face, Manami returned the Debussy collection back on the shelf before straightening herself. "I'll go with you to greet him so you won't feel awkward, okay? C'mon!" With that, she led the younger girl to where Shimizu was.

Upon stepping slowly into the store, Keiichi heard a single chime of a bell. He temporarily got lost in thoughts of songs that used bells in them; he could think of a Christmas song or two, and maybe...

...Ah?

Keiichi blinked to see a stranger suddenly appear in his line of vision. One second he was staring into space, and the next... he wasn't. He looked through half-lidded eyes at the girl standing in front of him; she appeared to be older than him... oh, wait. She looked familiar... ah. "Mori-senpai?"

Hnn? Since when did Mori have an extra pair of arms, legs, eyes... eyes? Keiichi looked again, and noticed that there had been another person with Mori. She, too, looked pretty familiar. Hm? What were they both doing together? He never recalled seeing them with one another before.

"...And Brown-san..."

Keiichi blinked sleepily at them both, and remembered to bow. "Ohayou gozaimasu...."

He didn't know if it was morning or not, but from the way he felt (a little tired), he figured it was probably morning-- or sometime close to it.

With Manami right beside her, Adagio felt a little better, and returned Keiichi-kun's greeting happily.

"It's great to see ya' Shimizu-kun. Who would have thought that we would run into each other here."

When she thought about it more, Adagio could not understand why she had suddenly panicked before. This was Shimizu-kun, her partner for one project and classmate. Why had she been so nervous?

'Cause I'm silly I guess. I don't usually panic, so why should I panic now? Maybe I'm sick or something. Nah, I rarely ever get sick. Could it be some rare tropical disease? Wait, I've never been anywhere tropical so that can't be it.

Looking up towards Keiichi again, Adagio noticed that his hair seemed to be more ruffled than usual and smiled. The major cowlick mess that he had for hair was kind of cute to her.

When her thoughts completely processed through her mind, Adagio quickly averted her eyes over to Manami and blushed slightly before beginning to talk again.

"Manami was showing me around town today and we decided to stop here, she said that it was a really good shop for music stuff."

She knew it was a stupid attempt, but Adagio had to avert the attention onto Manami so she could properly compose herself.

((LOL Adagio is such a funny character to rp with. xD Some rare tropical disease, oh yeah. One called youmayhaveacrushitis ROFL))

Manami merely smiled and gave a slight wave in reply to Shimizu's rather lethargic greeting. She noticed that the boy looked rather tired; the way his shoulders slumped lifelessly forward and the slow, sleepy blinking of his eyes made the brunette wonder if had gotten enough sleep the night before.

She turned her attention to Adagio when the latter began talking cheerfully to her classmate. Her hesitant face was now more relaxed and she had a bright smile on her face that radiated confidence and energy. As she watched the younger girl, Manami vaguely wondered why she had been so nervous about striking up a conversation with Shimizu in the first place.

The quick, discrete glance that Adagio gave her made Manami raise her eyebrows quizzically. It was barely conspicuous but she also noticed the slight flush in her kouhai's cheeks as she averted her gaze back to the boy in front of her. A small grin ran on the brunette's lips as a thought suddenly popped in her mind. Of course, she might be jumping into conclusions but it was still highly probable...

"Manami was showing me around town today and we decided to stop here, she said that it was a really good shop for music stuff."

She could not conceal the grin as she turned to Adagio as soon as the latter had finished speaking. "Didn't we stop by at such a nice time? If we had dropped by a little later, we probably wouldn't have met Shimizu-kun here."

Adagio felt defeated right after Manami spoke, and quickly tried to think of a proper reply. She was not used to failing miserably at her attempts to turn the conversation onto someone else, and now that she had, she had to think of something fast.

"Y-yeah, our fortunes must be good today. We get incredibly nice weather, and run into some friends on our way around town. I knew I should have checked my horoscope before I left the house."

Giving Manami a bit of a 'oh yeah thanks' look, Adagio decided to keep to her guns and move onto someone who would be easier to suggest to turn the conversation to.

"So what are you doing here today Shimizu-kun? Did the weather make you want to go for a walk, or was there some music you wanted to pick up?"

Tilting her head in genuine curiosity, Adagio waited patiently for his reply. Every now and then she would see some people walking past the store and looking at her or something else inside the store before she would look back at Shimizu.
