Keiichi stared in vague puzzlement at the piece of paper in his hand. He stared vacantly into space, trying to remember what had happened. ... Oh, right. He remembered walking down the sidewalk, on his way... somewhere. Suddenly, an energetic girl had taken one look at him and shoved a colorful flyer into his hands.

Upon closer inspection of the flyer, Keiichi noticed that it was an advertisement for a brand new coffee shop that had opened the day before. What, did the stranger think he needed coffee or something? He felt just like he always did-- maybe a little on the tired side.

Well. The shop didn't seem to be all that far away, and he didn't really have anything else to do (Then, thought Keiichi, why am I outdoors on a crowded street...?).

A few minutes later, Keiichi was staring at a very cozy-looking coffee shop that wasn't quite crowded, but not empty either. The feel it gave off was quite pleasant-- sort of like the feel the song Two Daughters gave off in the middle of the song, with the cellos as the moving melody, the violins as...

"Excuse me. You're kind of... blocking the way." A voice interrupted Keiichi's train of thought. A nice-looking lady was indicating that she wanted to go in the shop. He then noticed that he was standing right in front of the door, preventing anyone from going in or out.

"Ah... gomen nasai," Keiichi said politely, and bowed slightly before moving out of the way. The lady shot a hasty smile at him, and Keiichi followed her into the coffee shop.

The other day when Hotaru was walking home from school someone handed her a flyer for a coffee shop. Hotaru wasn’t much of a coffee drinker but she thought she might as well give it a shot. She dragged her sister, Naomi, there the other day and it was a very nice and relaxing place. She just loved the caffé latte they served there.

So now Hotaru found herself once again in the little coffee shop. She was sitting in a very comfortable, big, brown chair that was set next to one of the large windows. The coffee shop also had free wifi so the girl brought along her PSP. She had just finished “pwning” someone at her favorite strategy war game and she found it quite funny that a large groan was heard when she did so.

Hotaru turned off her PSP and sipped some of her caffé latte. This place was sure going to get Hotaru addicted to coffee. Using her hand to move her blonde hair from the front of her face, Hotaru looked around the small place and watched the workers prepare drinks and other customers lounge around.

She heard the bell ring signaling more customers have arrived. Looking over at the door Hotaru saw a boy just stand there. How long is he going to stand there, she though. After a good while a lady came behind him and asked him to move and he finally entered the store. She recognized him but she wasn’t quite sure who he was. Giving up on trying to guess who he was, Hotaru sipped from her drink again and gazed out the window.

Shiba squinted at the fine print on the coupon -- bright pink, and slightly crumpled from the repeated extraction and stuffing back into his pocket he'd performed on the thing. Grandmother had given it to him the day before saying that he'd better use it up (the coupon was for a free coffee at the new cafe; plus the Shiba family had a history of being thrifty penny-pinchers), and this was the only chance he'd be able to use it before the validity period was up.

The place had that newly-opened air about it, and was swarming, to say the least. A boy band's latest single was being pumped into the area by loud speakers that could be heard from the outside. Shiba entered the cafe, slightly embarrassed, and checked if there was anyone he knew sitting at the tables. One girl looked like she might be from his class, but he couldn't be certain. In any case, there was only one table left -- and a little blonde boy seemed to be making for it.

While looking out the window Hotaru tapped her fingers against her knee along with the music. Sipping her caffé latte slowly, for she was trying to make it last as long as possible really, she looked at the door again when the little bell rang. The girl sighed, she really needed something to do besides sitting, sipping from her drink, and looking at the door every time the bell signaled a new customer.

The person who just entered the door Hotaru also recognized. She couldn’t place a name of course but at least she knew he was a third year student in the gen. ed. department. The way she knew this was because he was in her friend’s class. When she would eat lunch in Shika’s class room with Ayako or hang out with them before class sometimes she saw the boy she sees now. He is always so silent so Hotaru was a little surprised how she recognized him easily. She waved it off as just how her mind works in weird ways.

She watched the two boys who entered curiously. It was always amusing to her to see people she recognized from school somewhere else. To her it just proved how small the world really was. They seemed to be heading to the same spot and Hotaru made her own little commentary in her head of what she made out to be like a little race.

The teens sitting across the table from her started to depart. Now she would have less people to eavesdrop on. Oh the shame Hotaru thought. Well the seats will probably be filled quickly with the little shops never ending customers. When people leave more customers come and quickly fill in their spots.
