New Roleplay Plot & Setting

Uni-Faction: 3 (penchan, geezer, rieko)
High-School-Faction: 3 (Fahrin, Vinnie, Yian-san)
Neutral: 4 (Kotoko, Niki, Peculuiarities, Ka-chan)
Total: 10 people

Now let us look at the HS-faction and the neutral group and their opinions on boarding vs. normal school!

HSF: 2 (boarding) - 1 (normal)
Neutral: 2 (boarding) - 1 (normal) - 1 (both)

Results
(1) Tie between the uni and high school
(2) A clear majority favours a boarding high school (pro-uni people excluded)

[Vivi 's comment]

Although I am still a high schooler (I'm going to enter uni next year), I voted for uni because just as Rieko and penchan said, it is a very flexible setting. University students are also more independent in general which grants the RPer more freedoms. After all, the goal is not to give everyone an exact description of uni-life, but a description of life in general. I mean, look at our previous RPs: Who can tell whether we've depicted Japanese culture and school life correctly? Many of us live in western countries so we're used to different school systems and habits. The same goes for uni-life: If we manage to get the gist (perhaps with the help of a "Uni 101"-thread), then it's already enough, no one expects us to write very detailed or horribly realistic reports.

Nevertheless I do understand all those who prefer a high school setting, so here is a suggestion/offer/possible compromise:

Let us create a random city. In the city, we can find an apartment complex, a cafe, a library, a restaurant, a boarding school and a university.

Those who feel at home in highschools, can roleplay boarding school students (original characters ONLY). Those who want something new can roleplay university students (canon AND original characters)

This way, we can even have characters from different age-groups which is perfect for siblings (and as a high schooler, you can easily date an uni student! xD)! And characters from the high school can eventually graduate and enter university as well (this way, the timeline of our RP can advance faster and we don't have to fear for our beloved 3rd years)

Only condition: Its stupid to create two schools in case we end up with only 2 uni students and 8 high schoolers; it's only sensible if we have 50:50 ratio.
So in case you guys are okay with the idea, who would like to rp where?

for potential university students

I'm all up for Vivi's suggestion. :D (It's awesome and I can't wait to get started!)

As for those having qualms about uni-life, let me assure you that it's really not that different compared to high school. If you read Kotoko's refresher, that basically sums up what life in college is like. Should you guys have more questions, please feel free to ask and I and other uni students would help you out as best as we can. :3

I'd definitely be RPing a uni student, but as of now, I'm still undecided whether to be an on-campus dormer or be an off-campus resident. I'll get back to you on that. XD

Oh, Vivi's idea is very good! I support 100% *thumbs up*

I think on-campus dorms would be more fun and exciting..Yet, off-campus would mean more secret parties and sleepovers..XD Hmm..I guess either wouldn't matter as long as they can live together and have lots and lots of fun. ;D

Vivi is a genius! Keke. I agree with her idea. Now that I think about it I'm not entirely anti-uni, and I can probably adjust easily with some help from those with more experience. ><; That said, I will probably create a high school student first, and if I can handle a second that one will be at uni.

For uni students... don't students have the option of living either on-campus or off-campus? Excluding freshmen, of course.

I think that most of the characters that will be uni students will have to come from a different school than the boarding school in our original city. After all, it would be unlikely for the students from the boarding school to all go to the same university, right? CCs would be from Seiso, but (most of) the OCs should be from a different high school...?

I'm all up for Vivi's idea~ *yay*

I'm more likely to opt for RPing the uni student, though. It'd be fun, since we've been playing high schoolers for the past two years or so xD I'm also for both on-campus and off-campus housing. 8D

Ahahaha, making a new town is so exciting xD

EDIT: Perhaps the CCs from the university could help out with the orchestra club @ the high school (like Ousaki)? This'd help increase interaction with the high school and uni~

Ahh, as expected of Vivi-sama! :)

To be honest, I'm starting to warm up to the idea of university and boarding schools now after reading all of this discussion, haha. I'm still not sure what I would personally like to RP at the moment, but I'm liking everything so far.

If I do end up RP-ing a uni student, I'm open to both on-campus and off as well. Personally, I think off-campus housing might be entertaining because friends can room together and there will be challenges like scraping together enough money for rent, cooking issues, etc. xD That would be fun.

I'm so excited~ I can't wait to start again.

I haven't yet seen a public university that has exclusively on or off-campus housing. All I've seen/heard about have both ^^ Where I'm from, first-years/freshmen are given first priority status when applying for on-campus rooms; but, I've talked to someone in a California university where it's apparently the opposite and senior students are given priority status for on-campus housing.

Both on-campus and off-campus housing have their pros and cons, of course. For RPing purposes, it's probably easier to meet up with people on-campus since everyone lives so close to each other, whereas people off-campus can be spread out anywhere within the city (generally, students like to keep close to the campus, but even so, it's a much larger area). Still, I'd be up for either.

In terms of who I'd RP, I'd probably go for a uni student xD

Yes, I was only curious about each member's personal preference XD In our RP, we're going to have both, so we don't have to choose between on and off campus housing ~

[My character's probably going to live off-campus, though...Is anyone interested in sharing an apartment with my character? XDDDD]

Ah yes... if you're still looking for staff members, perhaps I could lend a hand? ^^; I have no inspiration to be the graphic designer again, sadly, but any other role would be good too. If I can help in any way, just let me know! :) I have lots of time.~

The new plot sounds amazing!! I can't wait to get started!*A*

I have a question though.;u;" What are the courses offered in Habataki Daigaku? It's listed as a requirement in the canon characters application form, and since I'm still debating over whether or not to take up Kaji again I kind of need help in that respect.;; /ignorant high school student is ignorant

We deliberately didn't determine the courses, because that would restrict the freedom of our roleplayers =D In other words: Your character can study whatever he or she wants ~
