Joining

  • Your username must be the same as the name of the character you wish to play. The use of names that have already been made is not allowed. All names must be original to you. If someone has a name you wish to play and that player is no longer on the site playing said character, you may contact a Leader. Permission to play that name may or may not be granted. Abusing the ability to request the use of used names will result in this feature being removed.

  • Once you have joined, your account will be pending until a character application has been made and accepted. If you wish, you may play a pre-existing character. Pre-existing characters are characters that already have a place in a pack or a role to fulfill. These characters may or may not have specific details that must be followed.

  • You may have as many characters you like. However, you must have at least 50 posts and be in a least five different topics from your most recently created character before creating another. With this in mind you may not claim names or images prior to making a character. It’s first come first serve. Don’t worry though, we delete inactive accounts to avoid holding. Note that posts out of character do not count towards your overall post count. All posts must be made in the playable character areas. You cannot play your own mate.

  • Characters may be any color they wish. But, if you have a bright red wolf in the middle of a green field, there’s no being stealthy. Please keep this in mind with any color you make your character. After all, a black wolf will stand out in a snowy field just as much as a red one in a green field. “Normal” colored characters are not actually permitted at this time; with the exception of pure white or pure black.

  • Characters may not have wings, powers of any kind or excessive articles of clothing. They may have small trinkets such as anklets, bracers, necklaces or earrings. However, there must be a reason for them in your application. Inaccurate or way too farfetched reasons will not be accepted.

  • The main breed of wolf is based off of the grey wolf. You must get permission to play any other breed before you make the character.

  • You may have a signature but you are only allowed one picture. This does not mean you should make it so the picture is coded to change every so often. It means one picture, period. This picture can be a max of 500px wide and 400px tall. All other images may be put into your character profile and be whatever size you want. This is to prevent the board for stretching and to keep the images smaller than your posts. Scrolling tables are also not allowed.

  • Avatars are allowed but must be no more than 90px wide. The height can be up to 200px but that might look funny if you have a 90x200 avatar.

  • Characters must have accurate birthdays. For the purposes of this site, wolves are born in both April and October. No characters under six months of age may be created unless they are being born to a litter on this site.

  • You are only allowed one lead character and one second in command character. By this we mean you are only allowed one character with the rank of Alpha. This also implies you can only have one character with the rank of Beta. Should you have a character with either of these ranks and another one of your character chooses to be the mate of another character, the other character is forfeiting their rank. Please keep this in mind when creating your character.

Adoptables/Pre-existing Characters

  • You are allowed to adopt as many adoptables as you like. However, all applications for adoptables will be looked over and approved by the creator of the character. Most adoptables will be the young of other characters.

  • Pre-existing characters do not have names, coat colors or personalities. Certain pre-existing characters may require a certain level of activity and/or roleplay quality from you. But please don’t let this discourage you. If you are really determined to play a character feel free to submit an application. We leave the creativeness of the character up to you as part of the application process. Impress us ;)

  • You are allowed to place adoptable characters of your own creation, but you have to get clearance from a leader or someone on the council. This is to ensure that the process in adopting characters out will not be hindered by any site wide events that may take place. You will be given a time and place to post the character sheet for the adoption.

Gameplay

  • You may not use chat speak. As in you must spell out “you” and not say “u”. This is a literate role play site and we expect you to be able to construct full, thought out, and correctly spelled out posts. Most browsers have a built in spell checker and word documents are not hard to use. Please use them to help if you need it.

  • Please no one liners. Though it is not required to post a few paragraph it is highly encouraged. Short posts make it harder for others to reply. It also leaves a lot up to interpretation. This can cause problems during fights between characters.

  • We do allow tables when you post. However, we do not allow tables that have a scroll bar or are hard on the eyes. If they contain either of these a staff member will contact you and ask you to change your table accordingly. Note that there are no doHTML tags so you must use BBCode to make the table. Sorry but the forum does not allow the enabling of HTML; how ever much staff wishes it did.

  • No godmoding or powerplaying. Godmoding is when your character is more or less a god. Nothing hurts it, it knows all and is a super character. Powerplaying is playing another’s character without permission. This includes powerplaying two of your own characters. You may play them to an extent but each character should have its own separate post. Any player caught doing either of these will receive a warning. Continuing this offence may result in suspension or removal from the topic.

  • Loners cannot start roleplaying on the edge of pack territory. They must start in the designated starting lands and work their way there through word of mouth or chance. Chance must be roleplayed through to the lands. Word of mouth can be a member of a pack went off to recruit. Loners that wish to enter pack lands must announce themselves off of pack territory. Loners that wonder aimlessly onto pack lands (as in you post in the lands that have been claimed by the pack) are trespassing and subject to attack or worse according to the wishes of the pack being invaded.

  • In character and out of character conflicts are two separate things. Please do not take an argument or fight into the game and please do not bring a fight in the game out of it. Just because a character may not like your character does not mean that the player does not like you. If we see this happening the staff will be informed and action will be taken accordingly.

  • You may post in any number of topics with the same character. However, you must keep track of all your own topics. If you are found holding up a topic yet posting constantly in another, you will be asked to post in the held topic. This also applies to multiple characters you have.

  • This board is in real time with the Spring months being March-May, Summer months June-August, Fall months September-November, and Winter months are December-February. This also means that the day a topic is started will be the same day throughout the entire topic unless it is clearly stated that it is the next day at the top of the post in which the day has changed. Because of this you may not join two different topics that are set on the same day. This is to avoid time lapses.

  • Due to the real time nature of this site, your character will reach an age when it will pass on of old age. For wolves, they can live up to thirteen years of age and will show their age in their eighth year. Please try to consider factors such as fighting and stress when your character becomes older. The average lifespan of a wolf is seven years of age, but you can continue to play your character to thirteen if your character remains healthy.

  • You are not allowed to save spots in a topic. You either post your full reply or do not post at all. If you have part of a post written please keep it saved in a word document until it is completed and you are able to post it. Because of this rule, generally speaking, there is no posting order. The topic starter may implement a posting order if they choose.

  • Swearing is tolerated to an extent. You should be mature enough to know when enough is enough. Anyone who goes as far as to use curse words to purposefully hurt another’s feelings will be suspended. Consider this your one and only warning.

  • Breeding can happen year round but young cannot be conceived unless it is breeding season. If you choose to roleplay the breeding process you must state so at the beginning of the first post. If the breeding happens later in the topic the first post must be edited to say that the topic contains mating. The number of young conceived will be decided by the staff based on random variances as well as time of the breeding season and roleplay activity. You may only play one of the young but it is encouraged to allow others to adopt them instead. Please note that wolves do not become mature until two years of age and do not start breeding until they are at least three years old.

  • For wolves, normally only the Alpha pair breed, but it can happen between other members of the pack. It is not required but it is recommended that you get permission from the Alphas should your character wish to bare young. If no permission was given, it is up to the Alpha what happens to both the parents and their offspring.

  • For the purposes of this site wolf breeding season is in February and August. Pup will be born in April and October respectively. With this in mind that means you will roleplay the full duration of the pregnant female. Pregnant females will become aware that they are pregnant during the second week after breeding has occurred and will show in the last month of pregnancy.

  • Young must have the same general coat color and physical build as their biological parents. This means that two characters that are pure white cannot have young that are red. No exceptions. If you wish, you can create a character appearance sheet of both parents and their young and run it by staff for approval. There is no harm in asking for help or clarification.

  • Newborns will be played until the end of the birthing topic. After the birthing topic has been completed and closed, young will have grown to six months of age. This is the only time jump on this forum and is to prevent becoming bored playing a very young character.

  • In character fighting is allowed but you must inform the staff a fight is accuring so we know where the fight is and can judge it if there is not a predetermined winner (or an obvious one). We may also ask the fight to end if it has gone on for too long and therefore unrealistic. If a serious fight happens that involves your character, it is realistically possible that your character will sustain deadly injuries and may die of natural causes if not treated. You cannot fight your own character. War or otherwise. If you play characters in different packs and the packs have a war you will be matched against a different player regardless of what you say.

  • For both fighting and conceiving young, a notification must be made before either act has gone too far into the roleplaying. We understand, however, if you are not aware of a fight later in the topic. Breeding that happens before a notification has been made will not conceive young. Please note that you do not have to notify staff of a breeding that will not result in young (as in, it's not breeding season). Do not abuse this in any way or the rule will be modified.

  • If you will be gone or cannot post for more than a week, please let us know by posting in the vacation thread. After a month of inactivity without posting in the vacation thread, your characters are subject to becoming inactive. Inactivity may result in the loss of rank or removal from the pack. If your character has become inactive and you being them back they must start in a thread that is on the edge of playable land. As in, your character had left the lands completely and now must travel back.

  • Lastly, respect the staff and players of Breach. We want to avoid out of character conflicts, otherwise known as OOC. We want Breach to be an enjoyable and fun roleplaying experience for all our players and staff. Out of character conflicts happen, as not everyone gets along together If an out of character conflict arises, please resolve it off the site.
