I'm sorry I'm only posting this now to let you know that I will be out of commission until thursday as I have a paper and two midterms this week. I will post as soon as I get the chance.

P.S. I'm like 99% sure that this is going to go off on a tangent when I do. Is that ok with everyone?

EDIT: First to post on page 2!

Seriously... School/Life has been ridiculous... It has been so long since I have been able to look at this discussion that I forgot how I was going to present this argument properly but I remember the just of the argument I was going to make.

If discrimination is not subjective and is instead objective, where does the objective viewpoint come from? In the secular society, society is what dictates adherence and deviation thus making everything subjective because they are dictated differently at different times.

However, if you state that something is objective, there has to be a prevailing force above society that states "whatever society states, this is always the answer 100% of the time"

So I guess my question is where does this objective view point come from if not from society.

(P.S. And by school/life I mean writing a 6 1/4 paper in one day, 3 midterms, a preliminary thesis, losing a job, getting a job, applying for a second job, working, snowboarding, birthdays, witnessing 3 operations, holding a freshly removed galbladder, holding/doing a dressing for a leg that was half missing due to flesh eating disease (I could see the main artery pulsing) and other such miscellaneous tasks...)

I was thinking about this recently, and I believe I can narrow down what it is that I really have a problem with in regards to the 'dickwolves' debate.

The people who are rallying against the feminist blogs are seeing themselves as crusaders aimed at protecting the right to free speech. And I am all for free speech. However, what I have a problem with is who they chose to cast as their opponent. It wasn't a huge multi-nation corporation, or corrupt politicians. No, their 'enemy number one' is a much more dangerous group. They are fighting against that evil, evil group of 'women who have been raped.'

My issue is these (assumability white, straight and male) fans of Penny Arcade are acting like they are the last small band of survivors fighting against an overwhelming evil. And they're not. They are part of an incredibly privileged group who are viscously and cruelly attacking a very vulnerable segment of society. And I cannot see how you could ever defend their actions when you see things like the creation of the 'Team Rape' twitter, or the incredible amount of hate mail calling for violent sexual assault against one of the bloggers. These are people who are targets a group that they know they have more social power over while at the same time holding themselves up to be the great defenders against the awfulness that is "political correctness" (which in this case seems to be not telling a rape victim to get raped to death).

More generally, I think that this case is a rather clear example of an issue that is see in broader Western culture as a backlash to feminism. You have people who are privileged for no other reason than how they were born attacking those who do not have those privileges, while casting themselves as the underdog.
