It has come to my attention that some people were thinking that New Haven would count toward the fantasy game. I had specified that it would not initially, but I am "OK" with counting it if that's what people want Point values would be exactly 1/2 of the Premier Events, except a first round loss, which would still be worth one point. Something to consider: Many players will not participate in New Haven. There will be no "one week" sub-ins. You may trade a player out in exchange for a player who will participate in New Haven, but the first player will no longer be tied to you and will go back out into the Fantasy market. You may choose to reclaim them later, but they are not obligated to you if you give them up. The other side of this, is counting New Haven would allow some of the lower-ranked players who did not play in the bigger events to pick up a few points. Please vote ASAP. Whatever has the majority at the end of the day will be the final decision. In the event of a tie, New Haven will not count because that is what was originally specified. |

I never thought that New Haven would count, and have not factored that in my decision making. However, I'm willing to take a look at it, and maybe everyone can vote. I need a little time. I do, however, think that it should be a unanimous decision, or not at all. Majority's not good enough, IMO, because it isn't fair to change the rules mid-way unless everyone agrees. |

Based on the original instructions, I did not expect the fantasy game to cover Pilot Pen. Of course, this is only a game, and I still proclaim this to be BS. Shaving the points does not make up for the fact that Rogers, Cincinnati and Pilot Pen are not equal by money, talent, or starting points for each fantasy team. Two fantasy players will have 4 of their players at PP; three fantasy players will have 3 of their players at PP, and 2 fantasy players will have two of their fantasy players at PP. If each fantasy team had the same number of players at PP, I might consider that to be fair, but I am not so sure since the operative information, for me, is contained in the original instructions: ..."Since it's supposed to be an all-summer event, I figured our fantasy game should mirror that. The game will count Canada, Cincy, and the US Open. The previous events and New Haven WILL NOT COUNT..." PLUS, I WAS LOOKING FORWARD TO A BREAK. IT IS HARD WORK KEEPING UP THE SPIRIT OF SPOILED ASS TENNIS PLAYERS, ESPECIALLY WHEN THEY LOSE. TRYING TO KEEP SOME GOING; TRYING TO KEEP THE OTHERS PRACTICING UNTIL THE NEXT TURNAMENT. A MUSE NEEDS A BREAK!!!! Rex should not be placed in this predicament; nor, should other fantasy team members. With that, I am opposed, but, of course, I will accept the group decision [without further rumination]. Edited by Ebonymuse, Aug 21 2010, 04:29 PM.

So after consideration and the responses in this thread, New Haven will NOT count toward the fantasy game. Take the week to assemble your best possible USO team, as there are still huge points to be had. And for the sake of everyone, may Caroline and Roger go down hard today. |
