Czech doubles specialist Martin Damm retires

PRAGUE (AP)—Czech doubles specialist Martin Damm has retired from pro tennis at age 38.

Damm teamed with Leander Paes to win the 2006 U.S. Open and a year later reached his highest doubles ranking of No. 5. He won 40 ATP doubles titles in a pro career that began in 2000.

Damm told the Czech tennis magazine Tennis Arena he is quitting because of his age and recent poor play. He will now coach U.S. player Ryan Harrison.
