Ken, Though I haven't done business with the fellow, I see that he's posting a lot of ads on the eBay 3B parts pages, and the price seems fair enough (not sure of that however with overseas shipping added in). Have you checked with Richie at Beachwood for their price on the nameplate? Larry |

Ken, The seller is Robert Dudkowski from Poland. I've written him and asked him questions. He seems very helpful and based on the pictures, talented. I asked him about the third patent number on the first column being different on my plate vs. what he had displayed. Display: 2,628,224. My plate: 2,620,224. He offered to make me one like mine for the same price. I also wrote one of his customers (looked up under list of feedback given). The guy, who had a CJ3A, told me he also was a bit hesitant to do business with someone overseas but couldn't stop praising the workmanship. What I noticed was Robert offered, along with other styles, the correct style for my 3B vs. the older serial plate that other vendors offered which only appeared to be correct for the CJ2A (maybe the CJ3A also). Mine matches the one you listed in your question. I've looked at other websites and while the quality is good, I wanted the same style plate like this. Right now he is the front runner for when I get to the point where I order a replacement as mine is almost unreadable. He also will stamp them if you provide him a serial number for an additional $15. A new plate that is indistinguishable from the original would be a good thing. |

Thought I'd resurrect this post since I just got my serial number plate in the mail today. I purchased it from the gentleman mentioned above. It is a top quality plate. Mr Dudkowski is very easy to work with. Since my jeep has a replacement VIN issued at some point by Colorado, I requested one with no stamping at all and he was happy to oblige. Most of his plates come with the "57348" or "453-GB2" etc., prefixes. Anyone who needs a quality plate for their jeep, I definitely recommend this guy. Here is the new plate next to an original from a 53 ![]() Here is a close up of the new plate ![]() |

I finally got my plate in a couple of days ago. I was a bit nervous as it seemed to have been taking too long. Turns out the Customs guys in NY were having there way with it (opening it up and inspecting it) probably due to foreign postage - I don't know for sure. The plate is just as Doug has posted. He is easy to work with and will do custom work. I had mine engraved with my serial number (initially, I thought it would be stamped) and Robert matched the font sizes and spacing correctly. Very nice work. |

The owner of the '44 MB (I just installed a new steering gear and rearched front springs in) ordered a complete new set of ID plates, etc. from the same vendor and called the man last week as he too, had not received the merchandise in a number of weeks since placing the order. Turned out that the same thing has happened to his order, the ignoramus Customs bunch in NY are holding up the receipt of the new tags. The vendor stated that he's already begun a new set of plates for Joe, just in case Customs holds the merchandise indefinitely. I contacted the vendor myself just a couple of weeks ago, and even though he's pretty proud of his plates pricewise, I still plan to place an order for a complete set of original style repro plates for my '53 3B. The thought of a bunch of idiotic Customs agents holding up my order however, give me great concern. Larry S. |

guess I cant complain about customs anymore ... last item I got from California was opened by US customs (leaving the country ? a first I've seen ) then Canada customs opened it ... they (customs) also tack on a customs charge here so maybe I can still complain those plates look really sharp if I remember correctly I believe Dunl ( will ask him to check this topic ) also found a (rare?) tag behind passenger seat on fender slope ... |

Question for Russ, Doug and Eddie: Are Robert deRuyter and Robert Dudkowski both connected to dataplates4u.com, or are they two separate individuals with separate companies across the pond? The e-mail I sent (and received a reply from) was from Robert deRuyter. If separate, what address is Dudkowski's website/contact info? Larry S. |

Larry, I asked Robert Dudkowski from Poland that very question. His answer, "no I haven’t connection with this website, they are .nl and we are .pl ;-)" From that I gathered dataplates4u is in the Netherlands and Dudkowski is in Poland. What are the odds two different people in two different countries in Europe producing data plates for American vehicles/trailers? Seems vendors here only offer one style – take it or leave it. Now the only way I've consistently been able to contact Dudkowski is through Ebay - I don't know of any website. He's replied to me via two different emails but I've had those bounce sporadically. Also keep in mind English is a second language for him and even though he's easy to talk with, slang, tech or some unusual phraseology could be misunderstood. Be clear in your communication. Re: my previous comment about Customs, Robert mailed my plate to me via USPS – don’t know why or how. He provided me a tracking number to see how it was progressing. USPS doesn’t update their system like FedEx or UPS. It got scanned upon arrival into NY (Customs) but was never updated after that. Even with emails and calls I got nothing. After 20 days it just showed up - 3 days to cross the pond and 17 to clear customs and travel to AL. The system got updated after delivery ‘cause I complained again to the local delivery postman. |

Rus, Thanks very much for the info. I'll most likely deal with Robert deRuyter in the Netherlands since he's very respondent to e-mails, and just take my chances (as everyone else does) regarding any US Customs holdups. Larry S. |

I got mine from the Poland Robert. It took 3 weeks and he was very good about responding to my emails.I am planning on some plates for my 56 Willys PU as soon as I get everything in order for it. Could the reason someone in the US is not doing all these plates have something to do with legallity??? |
