found these diagrams on 3B page, it shows the different design of pulleys as early/late , my '57 had late pulley design, but why does late have what looks like a two belt pulley - I have one belt sitting in forward groove for alternator and waterpump - whats the other groove for ?

I can think of two reasons to have an extra belt on the pulley:

In both images, the auxiliary belt appears to be behind the main belt.

FYI- Notice the 3 tabs on the later style, missing on the early. They we're used for driving aftermarket accessories, i.e. winch, pumps using a PTO mounted in front of the pulley. check out this drawing.

with all the pto applications I didnt think running off the crank was used

wonder if all late 3B's had this feature, mine had something mounted on passenger side possibly using the inside belt - not sure what - and it plowed snow

here is my pulley - I see the tabs now

Here's a picture of a hyd pump and bracket that bolts to the front of the oil pan and uses the crank pulley with a rubber isolator block to drive the pump

He has a great website for his farm jeeps.
