I took off aftermarket electric wipers to return to vaccum on my '54. Can somone describe the correct mounting of the driver's side vac motor? From pictures on the 3B Page, it appears that there are spacers between the windshield frame and the wiper motor. Can anyone tell me how long the spacers are? Thanks for any assistance! |

Yes, there are spacers between the wiper motor and windshield frame. Sorry, I don't have access to mine right now to measure. You could contact Harry Sheets (lists parts for sale on WillysTech) as I'm sure he has some. Or you could use some washers and build up enough to match the size. You'll need enough to keep the wiper arm from contacting the hood when your windshield is folded down. Worth noting is if you don't have original wiper arm parts, even with the correct spacers your wiper arm will contact the hood. This was my problem and I had to add washers to the spacers. I've since found the correct wiper arm. |

Thank-you Rus. I sure don't want those arms hitting the hood...glad to know that might be an issue. I don't have the hood on yet. |

![]() Here is a pic of the wiper I took off my 53 CJ3B. The main shaft is broken and I replaced it with an electric unit. The spacers are 1/2" in diameter and 1/2" long. It apperars to be made of Bakelite. The hole is just large enough for a #10-32x7/8" pan head screw to go through. It has an internal star washer. Listen to Rus on the hood problem. I encounter the shaft length problem when I lower the windshiled to the hood. |

Thank-you for the dimensions, Don. I hope your reply and Rus' make it to the tech info. It might save someone some trouble. Would you be interested in selling that wiper motor with the broken shaft? Maybe I can get it back in action. |

Jenks54 Sorry for the delay in answering. I'm not ready to get rid of the wiper yet, but thanks for your offer. |
