I'm drooling all over my laptop, wow what a nice tub! I found a helpful tool for paint color was to look at the owners photos for ideas of what the jeep looks like in a particular color. Paint chip info for a each year is avail off the specs page from the home page link at the top of this forum. Is that a repro tub? tops of the fender tubs sure are straight. |

This is an obvious original post 1961 tub. Here's what I see....... Floor tub has indents with footman loops. That shows this tub is not a reproduction. Also note the two floor tub holes for the seat belts. Those holes will be spot welded to threaded bases. The hole for the parking brake cane handle is not apparent. That means it should have a post 1961 "T' type handle that would be located higher up the dash panel. Also note this tub seems to be minus the front bow pocket brackets that go on top of the wheel house. I see other indicators but I need to keep a few secrets. Now why should I keep a few secrets ? Hmmmm..... Yeah that 3B sure looks like a winner to me ! |

Kenneth, To increase the jeeps value to its full potential repaint it the exact same original color. Otherwise repaint it with any color available in 1963. Go see: http://www.film.queensu.ca/CJ3B/Paint2.html |

Kenneth, You mean bright yellow as in Ed Wilsons 1954 ? Thats real perty allright and it's like getting additional accident insurance all in one neat package. Go for it, its your Jeep ! |

Oldtime, You hit right on one of my concerns, visibility. I came very close to getting creamed twice before the yellow. And the only safety device on my Jeep is the air bag in the driver's seat. Ed |

Kenneth, It looks great in my book, and like Ken says, it's your jeep (well, we're in Texas, so at least half of it's your's anyway), so paint it the color that suits you best, (not really sold yet however on the purple; that was my mother's favorite color as well). When it's completed, you need to bring it on up to Houston some weekend and join our little flatfender group for some good BBQ and liquid refreshment, (Jamie does some great smoked brisket and sausage and he's got the right pit to do it on!). Ed, I also have one of those airbags in the driver's seat. Think maybe it was a dealer option back in '53? Only problem I have with mine is that it won't deflate! Ken, I too spotted the half cab rear curtain footman loop retainers in the floor right off the bat. How 'bout the rear bow pockets? And, the holes in the top of the tub edges for the vertical bars that secure the side curtains and door latches? Hmmm, guess I let some of the secret out, huh? Larry S. |
