Seat Springs! I am searching for a lower seat spring for a late model CJ3B. Snyder’s Antique Automotive in New Springfield OH has given me an estimate to build new ones. I have sent them pictures, measurements and had several conversations with them. They have asked if I could get a seat with springs that I might ship to them to use as a pattern. The design problem is the 4 bottom braces the fit into the holes of the rear cross bar and snap into the clip on the front. They don’t think they have spring steal big enough. The coils are not an issue. I am trying to keep from incurring the cost of purchasing a whole seat with springs and the shipping since I like the idea of new lower springs. They said once they make the patterns they would be ready for the masses to purchase. Estimates are about $200 to $250 per seat or for the two lowers only . I might have a line on one off a damaged frame that I can buy. Will know by the 31st. Looks like they are just outside Youngstown, OH. Figured I would ask, do any of you live close buy whom might have a seat they could look at? Springs for the rear seat are simple. All they need is a paper tracing of the pans and how thick the finished cushions are. I will keep everybody informed if they can work something out. |
