I have a 63 3B and I am about to paint it. I am removing everything and got to the hood. It look quite simple, just remove the 6 bolts. The problem comes when I try to put a socket on the bolts, There is not enough room between the Hinge and the channel. Can anyone give me some direction here. Is there another tool I can use? Do I need to jamb the socket in and possibly bend the Hinge? All suggestions welcome. Thanks NC Nick |

These are usually easy enough to get at- maybe try a 1/4" drive socket that has a thinner outer edge?..... |

My hood appears to be like the one photo above but there is less room for the socket. I am going to try a 1/4 as suggested. Can anyone give me directions on how to post a photo so I can show you guys what I am talking about? Thanks NC Nick |

Hey Guys, I used a 7/16 and put the socket on the grinder to make the wall even thinner and that did the trick. Thanks for all the help. Nick |

Nick, Is it possible you had an aftermarket hood on your jeep? I've worked on too many flatfenders for too long a time to recall ever having a problem easily fitting a 1/4" drive 7/16" socket over the bolt heads securing the hood hinge. When you re-install it, I'd suggest doubling the flat washers under each of the five bolts, bringing the bolt heads out further in case you have to remove them in the future. Larry S. |
