on the 3B page and elsewhere I have noticed some 3B's have a crooked stance, where the tub is pointing skyward and the fenders hood are somewhat parallel to the road ... mine has a crooked stance, I have spent some time underneath trying to determine why ... the frame is straight ... however the PO (god bless them) decided to do some creative tub work 1) they welded in a custom thickness hat channel on passenger side 2) though they fixed passenger side the drivers side hat channel is totally gone 3) to somewhat remedy 2) they welded the drivers rear corner of tub to the rear crossmember  the following two pictures demonstrate what I am talking about via the red line following the fender line , has anyone had this issue and tackled the tub mounting to remedy ? pic1 is my 57 - notice the fender line is not parallel to the tub cowl lines pic2 is a nice restore on 3B page - notice the fender line travels right thru cowl line ![]() |

Randy, Of the four 3B's I've owned over the years, all of the front fenders have been on the same plane as the tub's (top edge) rear. I've never noticed one that wasn't on the same plane, except where the fenders may have been bent or not bolted secure to the tub. Larry S. |

I did a recondition on my fenders awhile back , their in pretty good shape overall pretty sure the tub is pointing skyward, the front bulkheads have space under them cause the original hat channel is gone - looks like something else was stuffed in there like rubber and there is space ... the PO did some custom patching like the U channel picture below under passenger seat ... rear of tub touchs rear crossmember and is tack welded to it to keep it skyward there are some other 3B's under owners pics with same stance as mine, dont want to post here - so I think its custom tub work causing the issue custom hat channel ![]() fenders after being painted 'rattle can GM green' |

thanks 543B , good tip , the tub was probably taken off by PO - some replacement patch pieces were welded in but they hacked the hat channels and didnt give much (any?) attention to leveling ... |
