The Dana 18 transfer case I picked up with my Koenig PTO has a tag on it that I have not seen before. It is a Spicer tag with a Brown Lipe logo on it.Does this mean anything? Or did they all have this tag.I have a few other 18s laying around and none of them have this tag. Also all the bolts on the input and output housings are very nicely wired togather. All of this has just spiked my curiousity. |

The Brown and Lipe logo made its way onto many transfer cases starting during WWII. I dont have the exact history but have seen before that the company name was: Watson Transmission Brown-Lipe Gear Division Spicer Manufacturing Toledo, Ohio At some time they stopped putting the tag on the cases. But they are not rare. I have two here and both are post-war (bigger than 3/4" shaft diameter). One has an e-brake and one without. They did a really nice job wiring them! Tom |

The Brown and Lipe logo is common on CJ-2A transfer cases. You might want to research that on the CJ-2A Message Board. I have never seen the logo on the early 3-B. Yes the safety wire bolt heads are cool. They used copper washers behind those bolt heads. |

They did do a beautiful job on the wiring. This TC came out of a 64 CJ-6.It has no e-brake on it.I had just never seen that before and was curious. It is going to find a home in my Willys PU at some point. |
