I was just thinking about how much money the CJ3B Page has been responsible for pumping into the economy over the years. Many of us knew very little about the 3B before stumbling on to the CJ3B page, and most were content on just driving the "ole beater" around. BUT after seeing one of the restored beauties Derek has featured on his Home Page, a lot of us have decided "to go all out" and replace, fix, restore, improve, remove, and add things that we had no intention of ever doing before. Most people admit that they quit counting all the money they sink into their 3B...can't help but wonder how much the CJ3B page is responsible! Way to stimulate the economy Derek!

well said Chet I knew nothing about a 3B , I saw mine at a garage sale - literally , the PO moved it out of his garage as they setup tables/booths inside ... I went straight to the 3B I thought it had a strange hood and was kinda ugly ... but something told me to buy it, struck a deal and the rest is history ... now I think it looks kinda cool like the ugly duckling ... I am accumulating a box of $$parts$$ - some used and some new for when I tackle the refurb job at hand ... thanks to the 3B page and all involved for their great help ! |

Having bought a few of these jeeps over the years and always looking for other and the parts that make them go I have accumulated hundreds of parts and stuff. Some of it I new and some of it was new to me. I can't even imagine what kind of money I have in jeeps and stuff I know I paid 2500.00 for my 54 and the last jeep a 62 3b I bought I paid 200.00 and a .22 cal rifle for it. Not only am I stimulating the economy I'm stimulating my lust for the 3b |

Chet, Just to give your thought some fodder, the last '53 3B I restored back in the 90's, the little Corvette Red gal, I started totalling up the parts tickets (I'd kept every one of them, even some for just a couple of nuts and bolts, etc.) one afternoon and when I got to $12,000, I stopped and there were a number of tickets still in the large kraft envelope I'd kept them in. BTW, that's the little 3B I traded (even) for the '57 Chevy big window pickup sitting under my shed out back. There's every bit of $1800 - $2000 worth of NOS and new repro parts for that truck stored in boxes sitting on shelves in the shop. Now that you've brought up the subject, and I'm giving it a lot of thought, if it weren't for collecting many old flatfender jeeps and old Chevy trucks over the years, and now vintage farm tractors and implements, I could have very easily been a wealthy individual.
