used 9 inch drums are as common as clover. If yours are bad, simply get some from a scrap jeep. But a used set of brake drums that have been turned on a lathe are as good as a new set. The only trick you need to know is that many shops do not have the tooling to machine a 9 inch jeep brake drum.. good luck |

They sure are common all right. I have a dozen setting under my work bench. Ten of those drums are turned .030 under, nearly good as new. |

The most serious problem about a "jeep parts seller" is that there is no quality assurance. Any aftermarket part, not just jeep has the same problem. I bought a chrome mirror bracket for a 1984 Ford pickup. for the left side in 2002. Two years later, when I sold the truck (2004) the "quality aftermarket mirror bracket" was rusty and hardly recognizable. The original equipment on the right side looked good as new, although a little dull. Most aftermarket parts suffer from the same disease. So, as far as brake drums go, I'd always opt for a machined old one rather than new. |
