My F- head 134 has a screw on oil filter set up. It's in the same location as all other filters I've seen, but I've never seen any pictures of this on the site. It has a large very old Hastings 117 filter w/ about a 5/8" screw thread. Was this ever offered or is it aftermarket? Either way does anyone know of a filter that will fit it beside the Hastings? Thanks |

My 54 cj3b has the same oil filter setup also, its a napa part #1050 and I know it came stock on civilian jeeps , as I bought my toy from the original owner . and shows it in the owners manual . nothing on my cj was aftermarket all stock when I got it I kept it mostly stock except for a few of my own personal touches like the polished alum diamond plate I wraped the compleat tub in and a few other little things, but my touches did not affect the stock look much but will add value to its price tag when its compleated . Every inch of this jeep was replaced with all new original parts unless I couldnt find it , than I had them rebuilt.. I am hopeing to finish it by july but not sure Im going to make my deadline . I have been spending around 4 hours a night working on it for the past 5 years so its about 500 hours or so working on it so far. I paid 500.00 for this jeep with original miles on it of 16453 befor it was parked for over 30 plus years till I rescued it in 2004. The cost of this 54 when new was $1342.00 After I finish It will have a new price tag of almost $20,000.00 since I have the original owners manual and price sticker .also when I bought it I got the original registration cards from 1954 along with current reg since 54 did not have tittles transfer of ownership was done on back of reg card . all this paper work adds value wich I got lucky to actuly get with this jeep. I am hopeing motor vehicles will let me keep this reg and issue a tittle for reg purposes when its plated .since this is a true classic . excuse all my babble I just like to brag about my build. frame was sand blasted and powder coated and tub was blasted and primed and painted you can never be finished with one of these since there addicting good luck with your toy and many years to come enjoying it .. I will pass this jeep off to my son when I pass but I think Ill keep it for now to enjoy with the grand kids since one day it will be theirs..

Thanks for the info. I found out today a Fram PB50 is also a direct replacement. Don't worry about the babble, your Jeep sounds awesome, quite a find. |
