what guage metal would it be and how wide is it. I know it can be purchased from the restoration suppliers but I hate to part with 30 dollars including shipping from the USA to here in Canada for a piece of philopino steel worth all of $1 . I plan on making it just need the width. Have looked all over the site and through my books w/o success, can anyone narrow it down for a 1956? Also what kind of cushion material and how thick is it beneath the tank and to the floor? I can figure out the length as I have a new tank . Getting closer on the restore of the tub , proud moment when I fitted in the drivers seat this week I got from Bill oakes three years ago, now for the tank. |

OK,, I see Copperswilly has you covered on the part. That's good. Buy ya'll are gonna have to read this anyway since I went out and measured it for you. LOL ============================================ I measured the reproduction tank strap I bought from Krage Motorsports. http://www.jeepdoc.com/catalog/partframe.asp?id=3509 It was made in the USA. It is one inch wide and .060 inch thick, or 16 gauge. From the CJ3A information page, I found this info on the anti-squeak strips. Best I can tell they are about 1/8" thick and about the same width as the mounting strap. http://www.cj3a.info/tech/gastank.html Hope this helps. |

Chris and Don, Appreciate your efforts ! Chris, Just got your package and all looks good. You don't have to send a strap if you don't want to but it will be greatly appreciated. Don, Thanks for the measurement! That's tommorrows or Sundays mini project depending on the sharpness of my metal cutting blades! Ian with a closer to complete rust free 3b body
