George,

The shift levers of almost every old jeep I've ever worked on has had 5/16" - 24 NF (fine) threads. You should be able to chase the old threads fairly easily, that is unless some previous owner has cut the shafts below the threads, and if that's the case, you should be able to cut new threads the same size, depending on how far down the levers were cut.

Hope this info helps.

Okay George,

I've just gone out to the shop and measured several of the spare transfer case knobs I have on hand and they're all 1 1/4" in diameter.

George,

The pancake style knobs I have measure 2" in diameter and 1 5/8" thick. The grip band around the knob is 3/16" in width and is splined. I'm assuming that you're going to cut the knob on a lathe and that you could knurl the grip band with straight splines or cross diagonals and either would look nice.

Post some photos of them when you get them all made. I'd entertain the idea of paying you to turn a set for me, even if you used aluminum.
