I have a chance to purchase a Koenig j58 pto with cable shifters for a good price. My question is would there be any problems with mounting this on a '54 cj3b? |

As you know ...the P.T.O. itself is the driving unit that attaches onto the rear of the model 18 transfer case. The model 58 Koenig has dual (front and rear) output shafts. The model 58 is perhaps the most desireable of the Koenig P.T.O.'s One can operate either front or rear shafts but not both simultaneously. The J 58 is a cable controlled version. It was designed for use in FC Jeeps It is a simple modification of the standard twin stick control design. With proper shift levers it can easily be converted back to twin stick control. |

Robj, Oldtime has you on the right track. The twin stick PTO is a nice find. I scaned a few pages out of a koenig book so you can seee the parts in each pto. All you'll need to do is find or borrow a shift lever and you can make a couple of the levers without too much bother. ![]()

Thanks for the good info. I had read somewhere that the 58 pto was for a cj5 so didn't know for sure if there would be clearance problems. I can pick this up for $300.00 but I don't think it has the cable shifters with it. I hope it does. |
