John,
So what engine/transmission combo did you decide upon ?

Ten spline mainshaft you say ?
That fits the lerge hole model 18 TC that was originally mated to a Borg Warner T-14.

was going 4.3 to a sm420 till I found out its a sm465 so now thats the way Im headed Posted Image
Ill get a few lighter and clearer picts added in tommorow
so now I got to send my adapter back to novak to swap it out for a kit for the 465
now I need to do my homework on the 465 so I know what the gearing ratio In 1st is I know its not as low as the 420 but I hear good things about them

The Synchromesh 465 in combination with the 4.3 will certainly provide you with a modernized power train.
Plus you are bolting a GM to a GM product. This requires no transmision to engine adapter.
The SM 465 is the more modern of the two and is a larger transmission than the SM 420. The SM 465 is HUGE !
One big plus is the SM 465 uses a much shorter transfer case adapter than the SM 420.

True; the SM 420 has a killer low Ist gear ratio.
The gear ratio span for either SM transmission is not the optimum if you plan to use this with a Warn O.D. unit.
There are other transmissions having gear ratio spans that work better in combination with the 25% O.D. units.

Just my opinion, Happy wrenching !
