Hello all, I am new to this site and to the world of Willys. I recently sold a '63 M37 that I picked up from my company. It gave years of fun but I let it go to a Vietnam vet who saw it and asked to buy it. I figured he deserved it more than me so I let it go in hopes of finding a smaller Willys later on. As good fortune would have it, I recently bought an old Jeep from a guy who had it on the river for the past five years. Surprisingly, it is in very good shape. It had no title, but everything works and the motor is fairly tight. I am told it is a '53 and I know it is a CJ3B from researching I have done. It is currently in good enough shape to run as-is around my property, but I can't leave well enough alone! I plan to replace a lot of the obviously worn parts such as springs, shocks, steering arms, bushings, and brakes. The motor runs good since I recently put a new Solex carb on it. That made a big difference. I have a few things wrong that needs attention and I will be posting seperately for those. Anyway, I look forward to hearing from all of you. Hopefully I can get the help I need and maybe even provide some in the process. |

Thanks Doug! The links you provided are actually where I figured out I have a CJ3B! I have looked on the top of the right frame rail but couldn't find any stampings. There is also no data plate. The only numbers I have found so far is the castings on the side of the engine block. Since there are so many Jeeps out there with engine swaps, I can't rely on that being the original engine so I will look for more #'s. Also, there are no stampings on the water pump boss either. I'm sure I will find something, especially if I ever take the body off for restoration. If I find something I will be sure to add it to the database. |
