I cracked one of the Allstate hubs on my '53 and am swapping in a set of Dualmatics. What is the recommended lubrication for these models? There is a small bolt in the outer face of the hub that does nothing but plug a hole going into the inside of the hub. It appears as if it were an oil fill hole? Is that what it is? Anyone have any experience with these and how are hubs generally lubed? |

Thanks for piping in yjcanibul! They are the 2 lever style and I just installed them this afternoon. I compromised and gave the internals a good coat of grease and and then filled them to the fill hole with a heavy gear oil (it didn't take much and there is still plenty of air space). They look great and they're working great, so far... Researching on line I found pictures of the 2 lever Dualmatics both with and without this mystery fill hole as well as ones with bearings and others with bushings. Maybe this design was produced by several different manufacturers over the years and differ accordingly. If these ever fail I think I just would like to go back to flanges. Thanks again. |

Just greased mine and bolted them on, not sure if they were meant to be oil filled. Sure seems like another ever present leak for sure. Here's some info from the 3A page tech section, http://www.cj-3a.com/everything_you_ever_wanted_to_kn.htm |
