I inherited this 57 3B from my father this year, he purchased it from the US Border Patrol in 1970. I plan on restoring it this winter so if anyone has any questions or tips feel free to get back to me.

I do plan on restoring back to the Border Patrol colors. I need to find a photo of a BP jeep so that I can do an accurate restoration.
Me and my 3B live on Saltspring Island, British Columbia, Canada.

saltspring for those not familiar is a beautiful island far west canada, alot
of canadians and american's inhabit the area, it doesnt have alot of road

Hey Randy,
My father was a dual citizen, he was down visiting his family in northern Washington and while crossing the border he was chatting up one of the border guards and somehow the 3B for sale came up in the conversation and the rest is history...
And your right Saltspring Island does not have many roads but it does have a nice network of logging roads in the south island. And it is only a short ferry ride to Vancouver Island which as you probably know has a huge amount of roads and trails.

Nice lookin 3B Willy, it will be nice restored but I like it just the way it is. Maybe enjoy it for a while before tearing it down and restoring it.

Why restore it at all? Hey, it was good enough for your father...

Once restored, it'll never be used again for what it was built for. It looks great as is.

These vehicles are easy to take apart, and are an order of magnitude or two times harder to put back together.

It's a great looking jeep as is!! Enjoy it.
It's just my luck that something good is going to happen to me today.

Hey Guys,

Thanks for all the replies.
Part of me is defiantly wanting to leave it the way it is, the biggest reason I wanted to restore it was because I live on the wet coast and I want to get rid of all the surface rust on the frame and the little rust on the body so it doesent rust anymore.

Don,

The winch I was told is a 2 thousand pound PTO not sure who makes it but I will give it a good look and let you know what I see. I have seen it roll back over a John Deer 450 Caterpillar that had laid on its side so 2 thousand pounds is probably not right.
And I will post some photos after work today.
