Does anyone know what the original small hubcaps used with the 13 inch later(63-4) DJ wheels looked like? I recently acquired a set of 13 inch rims (thanks, Bill!) and the hubcaps that were on them were like a baby moon but came to a point in the center. They seemed like poor quality aftermarket caps, not something I would expect Willys to have installed..EDIT...However, they do seem to match original hubcaps in the pictures below.) I'll post a pic later, but for now, does anyone have factory hubcaps on a DJ with 13 inch rims? I am in search of ONE or TWO of these particular caps. |

OK here are the pictures as promised.. Hubcaps seem to be made of thin plated steel. and come to a rounded point. Does anyone think these are originals or have pics of original 13 inch wheels with similar hubcaps? Everything I have seen looks like a classic baby moon. |

Here's a possible match.. http://www.film.queensu.ca/cj3b/siblings/SurreyMovies.html Check out the caps on the nutty professor's ride. They seem to be the right profile. Yet other caps look more rounded, altho chrome is pretty hard to photograph. |

Bill they certainly look like originals, I have not seen any up close & personal, these are originals on the jeep below. Earl Colton also has a set on a surrey seen in his shed. These caps were only used on the 63 Surrey which came with the 13" wheels. Bill Brown has a set of the original caps maybe he can identify yours as original |

dc, Here's my input. I'm not sure what device you're using to access but if you use a computer you can 'right click' on a link - or in this case an image that won't load - and a window will pop up showing options like, "Show Picture"... "Save As"... and the one you want "Properties" Click on properties and that will show you the original path of the image. In the case of FBill's post it was located on another site called, "inlinethumb43.webshots.com" he either moved it or that site is gone or doesn't allow 3rd party like Photo Bucket. Hopefully, he might be able to address that. On Bruce Agan's posts there are two different references. The easy one is the one on the 3B Page. You are aware that Derek moved the Bulletin Board to a new server. He also moved the entire 3B Page website a while back from, "www.film.queensu.ca" to its new address, http://cj3b.info/ So the easiest way to see that image is to look at the original path and then either cut/paste the new address in over the old or just open the 3B page and then search for, "Nutty Professor" and you'll find the image on Derek's article. This is the image that I found using the cut/paste method of replacing the new address over the old "queensland.ca" address: **right click and view Properties of this image to see current path The other images posted by Bruce are most likely still available on his detailed website (very happy to see it's still up and available!!): http://www.jeepsurreygala.com/ As for the Photo Bucket image, I tried to navigate to it but got tired of the slow speed and all the adds. It was easier to just type in "Surrey Gala" in Search to see all the images (Many appear to be his). A lot of time spent on PB so there's that. Since I don't have a DJ, I can't really comment on correct hub caps but did notice two distinct types: Plain and then the other with "W" in the center. Hope this helps you with finding images that no longer appear - here or any other website. |

That was very informative Rus curtis. Thanks for the information. My search also yielded two types of hub caps. I would be looking at the late dj3a 1964 Kaiser production, and after discussions with some late dj3a owners thought the plain ones would be correct. As these late ones were produced by Kaiser Corp. There was no reason for the W to be present. Thanks |
