I picked up a gallon of "Transport Yellow" single stage urithane enamal at NAPA yesterday. Boy is that an intense color- more orange than I anticipated but i like it. I hope to shoot the bosy parts this coming week end as my 3B comes together. Looking at early october for road trials. I have a replitub and finished a lot of metal work as I replaced the new dash for my orginal and had some windshiled work to do too.

Interesting,
I'm waiting to paint my 1962 bright orange as soon as the heat subsides.
I have about 2/3 gallon of allis Chalmers paint I need to use before it goes bad.
What Napa numbers do you have for transport yellow ?
If you don't mind how much $$$ for a gallon ?

I primed my 62 with POR 15. I really don't believe I like it.
I will conversion coat with ACME 1 K primer surfacer then put on the Allis Chalmers
acrylic enamel topcoat.

Currently building my final F-134 powered 3B .

I paid about 65$ for the paint + about the same for the hardener and 20$ for reducer which I think is just laquer thinner. I will need to get the paint number off the can tonight. NAPA brand is Martin Semor paint- The napa people were very hlpful when I asked them to loo up the color- they called their main distribution place to confirm once i gave them them the color name "transport yellow"

I have been eyeing that NAPA urethane paint. They have transport, safety and schoolbus yellow on the shelf near my house. $63 is a GREAT price for urethane. It is not uncommon to have pricing over $100/gallon when buying from autobody supply places for normal auto refinish work.
Let us know how it sprays for you.

Sprayed my Transport Yellow yesterday- I used 1 gallon and likely need another for 3 coats. The color is somewhat transparent so definetely 3 coats required. I love the color the more I look at it. BTW i am using NAPA acrylic enamal color number is 3056.

Generally yellow and orange topcoats need to go over a white primer coat.

I definetely concur...The primer is the typical grey but atleast I have a couple of coats on there now which will require some fine sanding (few drips) anyway. I was told that the paint will take 6 mos to cure enough before a wax job!

I will try to post some pics this week. I put the tub on the frame and I was pleasantly surprised how well it fit- not yet bolted down but the holes for steering and pedals lined up as does the transmission and TC.I I need to do a little more odds and ends before final bolt up starting with the grille and front fenders and working back. The bolt holes in the tub align with the frame holes too. I was prepared for a lot of fitting.
