I replaced my steering wheel about a year ago and noticed that the horn malfunctioned as a result. The Problem: The reproduction horns are not routed out enough to allow the horn contact button to be close enough to the copper horn plate. The Solution; Add one or two garden hose washers to the contact button. This will raise it enough to allow the copper horn plate to work properly. I have finally added something of consequence to this board. It only took 5 years. YEA!!!!!!! North Carolina Nick |

As far as I know mine is the original steering wheel and horn button. The button does not sit high enough for the little brass plate to make contact. I made a little gasket for under the contact to raise it up but even the smallest amount of raising makes it too sensitive. Sometimes the horn will honk when you make a hard turn, sometimes it will not work at all. I've been fiddling with it for 10 years and have not gotten it right yet. |

Bob, My steering wheel is a new one. I bought a new horn and button but once the copper plate would flex too far, it wouldn't flex back to the original position. Try a thinner washer. In addition, if your copper plate has been over fatigued, you may need to replace it. Nick |

Nick, I think you're right, the copper plate might be too stiff to let it work correctly. |
