Go ahead and remove the splined yoke end cap by bending back the 4 tabs. Pull the splined yoke out and away from the splined propeller stub. Polish up the unsplined portion of the propeller stub with 320 emory cloth. Wipe clean, lube and reassemble with the Cardan crosses lined up. Those are good ole USA made Spicer Cardan crosses. Definately consider reusing them... Pull the trunion caps off from the Cardan crosses. The needles and the trunion journals should be washed clean. Inspect wear surfaces under magnification in direct sunlight. Be shure to count all needle and get them all put back with fresh grease. I like to pull the grease fittings, wash the Cardan crosses on the inside and blow it out with air. |

We call that situation "out of phase" It usually causes a nice vibration in the driveline. |

Not sure about the emboss but how many needles on each journal ? The least neddles I've counted per journal is 23. The most needles I've counted per journal is 32. The 1950's and 1960's Spicer Cardans often but not always used 23 needles. |

to be honest i didn't count. i didn't see any spaces in the caps either... i'm putting the front shaft back to gether, (the front shaft pictured above) is one spline off from perfect. there is no master spline. so i flipped it both ways. i way is closer, but i guess that will do ? |
