Anyone interested in meeting in South Fork,CO for a 3B(flat fender) meet/cruise? Maybe a week or long weekend run wheeling & camping. Trying to gauge if there is some interest in hanging out in this part of the state for a club or reunion event.

South Fork is located about 25 miles north of wolf creek pass on HWY 160 in southwest Colorado. This location provides access to the Rio Grande National Forest and the San Juan National Forest. Additionally, this is where my home and jeep are located. One can go "wheeling" in about any direction. I have seen a few flat fenders parked at other local residences but none on the road. My hope is to stimulate some activity, although I'm seeing very large numbers of ATVs and a lot of late model Chrysler products. Maybe antique/old school jeeping is not only on life support, but the cord has been pulled from the wall! I guess I'm the "Last 3B standing in southern Colorado".

I have the same problem with my 3B ( going too fast ) well I think I would have the same problem if I could ever get it out of my garage!!
You are very welcome to drop-in-&-stay-a-spell, along with any 3B'ers. Or MVPA folks. Time is running out for trips this summer, unless you have tracks to put on!

Moon and Dcook, don't give up on one more, me! I'll be back in the Intermountain West by 2014 and retired so I'll have more time for those Colorado runs. We are NOT dead yet.

Colorado Flat Fenders does some in the area too, but we need more 3Bs on the trails. I could see us doing Moab (easy and moderate, no need to tear our rigs up).

There's at least ONE more 3B "in the area"-- out on the prairie, east of Fort Collins. I wouldn't mind doing more jeepin', and I'm sure there are more of us.
I am one of the founding members of the Colorado FlatFender Club, and while we call the CJ2A Page "home", we are open to, as the name says, all flatfender jeeps. And, we have had CJ5's and even a Wrongler ride with us. Come on over to the CJ2A Page and have a look. Our annual "CFFC Fall Colors Tour", this year the "Allen R Boyd Memorial Fall Colors Tour", will happen next month with activities every day from the 18th thru the 25th. The main run will be on the 24th, with a huge feed and lots of fun that night.
We need more 3B's on this run!! I have heard that there will be some MB/GPW's with us this year, and there are always M38's, 3A's,and an abundance of 2A's. Don't be bashful, everyone is welcome, and there is plenty of room for camping, and hotels, motels, and b&b's nearby. I'm sure I can answer any questions you may have. BW

Where is the September Run this year? I'm interested if I get my 3B engine done and back in quick enough. I do not think it is possible for this year though. I still have to get my annual load of firewood and my Elk before the end of the month!!

I'm glad to find there probably more than a few 3bs left in southern Colorado, in fact surprised! Bruce I'm interested in the CFFC. Can the club allow special dispensation for a CFFC Wolf Creek chapter? I can put time into this effort. Can you tell me where the "Fall Colors Tour" location is? If the area is central, say within 100 miles of South Fork, this helps. I hate to trailer. My 2009, 400 mile, open top, one day road trip will not be repeated again. That trip learned me good!

Mr. Cook, anyone, wanting a weekend trip/long weekend trip, please contact me at your convenience. Durango is not that far of a drive, a wheeling/camping weekend using Teluride ,Silverton, Lake City, Creede, and South Fork in any configuration while staying away from the asphalt as much as possible, with only fuel and refreshments creating a paved road trek.

My work schedule is a 4-10 Mon-Thur. Best time to call me on the cell is between 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. MST. 4-tens equal a 4:30 a.m. work alarm for me, hence the narrow calling window.(575)-644-6718

Take Care,
Dennis

The Fall Colors Tour this year will be held in the Buena Vista area, Sept 18 - 25. You dont need to be there the whole week, but some will be. The best part is Saturday, the 24th, and we usually do a Sunday Morning Run for those who don't have to head home early Sunday Morning. This is not hard-core 4-wheeling, we run mostly Forest Service roads, and low range is mostly used not because it's really needed, but to keep the speeds down.
MoonRaker- I'm sure the CFFC could use a Wolf Creek Chapter (I kinda like the sound of the name myself). I know there is a lot of good trails and opportunities for trips in the area, and we need someone in the area to plan, coordinate, and "host" some trips. I'm sure your help will be greatly appreciated.
dcook- Archery or muzzleloader? I'll be hunting elk too, the week before the FCT. I'll probably come home from Walden, change clothes, change jeeps, fill up with gas, and head for Buena Vista. BW
