Rear axle and bearing reassembly help needed

So I finally got around to degreasing and repainting and was putting the rear axle back together today when I got confused. The bearing cup doesn't fit back into the axle tube. I know that its a pressed fit but how do you safely get it back in there? The shims fit over it but the bearing retainer plate doesn't fit flush with the axle tube flange. Is the cup simply pressed back into place when you tighten down the nuts and bolts holding on the brake backing plate or how is it done?

First press the cone and rollers #22 all the way onto the tapered axle shaft.
Insert axle shaft into the housing tube.
The wheel bearing cup #21 is tapped into the tube flange with a light hammer.
After getting both shafts and wheel bearings installed you will notice that either one or both cups do not set flush to the backing plate mounting flange.
Cup protrusion out from the flange face requires shimming with part # 20 on either one or both sides of the axle assembly.

Thank you, oldtime! :D So its as simple as tapping it back in? I never removed the bearings from the shafts, just checked them and repacked, so do you think that its likely that the shims that were already installed will be enough again?
