Yesterday I scored a Meyers aluminum half-cab for the 3b. I saw it on ewillys and drove to Virgina to pick it up. It's in good shape with all glass intact and operational doors and windows. With only a few small items to tweak, it's ready for paint. Or should I maybe leave it bare aluminum? That's one question, the other is; how have half-cab/roll-bar owners fit both to thier jeeps? Without even a dry fit I can see the cab is gonna hit past the forward tube of the roll-bar by 3 or 4 inches. It doesn't make sense to me to alter the top, so should I cut and weld on the bar, or is there a roll-bar made to go with a half-cab? |

![]() This looks to be what I call the standard Renegade roll bar. It was initially designed and installed onto the 1970 Renegade I. It would be a shame to modify it. However they are fairly common. You may have to move the bar back by shortening the baseplate and changing the angle of the diagonal tubes. That would make the diagonal tube angle very acute. I suspect a lightly modified "Smittybuilt" roll bar would probly provide a better look with a half cab. Do you have any cab pics ? Paint or no paint is no big concern. Whichever you like. |

Yeah, That's a Sears half cab enclosure. Meyer only built steel cabs. Looks nice.... Most Sears cabs were left unpainted. |

Well that's certainly news to me. I once had a full Sears all aluminum enclosure mounted on a 3A. The aluminum is so light that you should be able to put it on or take it off as quick as the weather changes. |

I've decided to paint it to match body but would still like to see some half-cab/roll-bar configurations. Google search doesn't show much, any members here have to modify the roll-bar? And/or whats your "slightly modified" Smittybuilt look like oldtime? |

On my half cab I did not install a roll bar because the Koenig cab is very protective just by itself. Myself I prefer the look of the original style Renegade Roll bar. Here's a pic of Bryans good looking Smittybuilt roll bar. Thanks for posting this Bryan..... ![]() On my half cab I did not install a roll bar because the Koenig cab is very protective just by itself. |

After finding this example, I measured mine more carefully and think it will fit by simply moving the bars as far back as possible. I realize its a CJ6 in the picture but I'm still hopeful. Gonna try a dry-fit as soon as I'm recovered from my mtnbike crash and can move again...doh.

Goose, That would be my preference - even if the back of the roll bar needed adjusting. |

Did a trial fit today. I'm still not sure if it's the jeeps' body or the Meyers top that was racked but I had to twist the heck outta the top to make it fit evenly everywhere. The doors I'm still fiddling with. It'll come back off for painting maybe next week and then on the jeep for the winter. Turns out I did not have to alter the roll-bar at all, there was room enough to move it back.
