One of the PO's apparently lost the nut and welded the pulley on. Do you think that that ragged edge can be cleaned up or should I go and buy ANOTHER! replacement part. The UPS man has been here so much, he checks my progress every day when he shows up!![]()

Can it be? Pretty much anything can be machined and repaired but at what cost? Would it be true and flat? Would it be the correct thickness? I'd suggest replacing it for sake of ease. Harry Sheets for a used original or the usual vendors for aftermarket. PO's: a distinct subculture that has definately left its mark!!! |

Hello Oldtime, the pulley's bore and keyway look good. Do you have any friends/business associates/machinists with a lathe or mill? If so, the pulley could be easily spotfaced and trued up. Personally, I prefer original parts to replacements, unless they are NOS USA made goods. Just my .02 worth - good luck with your project, Sam Michael Jr, Jax, FL |

My tendency was to just replace it. However, Sam you make a good point - I've got a good friend who is a machinist at a tool and die maker. I'll see what he says. Oh and BTW - the crank wasn't salvagable. Thanks, John |

I definately prefer rebuit original parts over new replacement parts. I'm pretty darn good with a disk grinder. I would simply shove a small disk down in there and get it flat. It only butts up to a large nut. It's not a close tolerance fit. |

Should be pretty easy to clean up. Thickness isn't an issue due to a nut tightening up on it. If the back was messed up it would be a different story. If it runs true then run it. PM me if you need one. |
