Las tnight after work I went to Wal*Mart as socal suggested and found outdoor vinyl for about 4 dollars a yard, brought it home and used barge cement (shoe goo original formula) to glue in the vinyl to the zipper and let it dry, then I sewed it in with upholstery thread. The only problem is I did not let the glue dry completely so it was tacky when my needle went through the vinyl and zipper it caused more drag on the thread and my tension was off on the sewing machine. either way it is going to stay. it took me about4 to 5 hours total to do it my self and cost me 8 dollars for the vinyl because I bought double in case I messed up, I already had thread and had the glue when I had to put my sole back on my boot. ![]() the rear side windows are yellow and starting to crack in a few places, I may replace them in the spring, the rear window was replaced by someone else before I got the jeep, all I had to do was sew it it in better. Thanks for all the advice from everyone. Cliff |

Phil, did you make your own pattern for your canvas top? How heavy of canvas did you use? what type of sewing machine do you have? thanks |

Chris, the old PVC top was so bad I couldn't save it so I cut it up carefully and I made patterns from that. The machine I have is a BROTHER DB2 - B755- 3B which I bought from a local upholstery firm. As for the canvas weight, not too sure as I don't have the original receipt. However, the company I got it from lists this item (assuming it's the same canvas) as 12oz - but you might want to do some research on that and see if it suits your needs. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3meters-x-29inch...=item2ec18a7dea |
