Thought I might try to tackle replacing the lime green paint the PO put on front fenders grille and hood. I want to remove the lime green, prime and put a nice paint down until ready to have it done professionally. If I can achieve a good quality paint job out of aerosol myself in the process, then I would be happy with that. I would like to save money, but no skip steps. I started with taking the paint all off down to bare metal. I put a few coats of Rustoleum Professional series gray primer(aerosol). I have no damaged areas I am trying to fill, just to get the fender ready to paint. I was planning on painting as close to 1953 Pacific Blue as I can find. I found the color on the Kaiser Willys Paint colors, but not on the Acme paint cars on here. There is a Mediterranean Blue listed, but no color shown. Do I need to sand? If so wet/dry and grit? I was reading 320 grit wet, then an 800. do I need to cover just cover the one fender with a paint, and quit while I'm ahead? Thank you Jared C. |
