I just purchased a CJ3B last month; it appears to be very original. Problem is; I'm not sure the year on the title is correct. It's titled as a 1953 but the serial number would make it a 1955. (57348 10801) the interesting thing is; it has a nomenclature plate that states date of delivery as 10/54. The Jeep was a BLM vehicle. The nomenclature plate has the correct serial number on it. So, what year is it? |

Sounds like you have a 1955 model year Jeep that was delivered to the government in October of 1954. Somewhere along the line a mistake was made so now the title reads 1953 instead of 1955. |

arios462a, Welcome to the CJ-3B Bulletin Board ! Bob knows his stuff I also say its a 1955 vintage. From what I can tell the model year was changed around late August of each year. So it could be produced as early as 8/54 and it would be 1955 model. The "801" seems to imply it was the 801 CJ-3B to be produced that model year. |
