The shackles can be found at most good tractor/farm supply stores. The "D" rings will need to be made. |

Thanks guys. I wanna do the weld-on type vs the bolt-on so I think I'll get the Clevis rings at a tractor supply place and have the rings fabbed at my local mach shop. |

The problem I have with most of the parts houses, including Grainger, is that you really don't know what you are buying anymore. I like Crosby-known quality and am willing to pay extra to get it. Quadratech has some of their stuff but there are a lot of other vendors. http://www.bairstow.com/department/shackles-19.cfm?killnav=1 I used 7/8" shackles on my 3B and put a stainless belleville spring washer (McMaster-Carr items) on both sides so the shackles will still move but don't rattle. I made my own weld-on mounts but do recall seeing those available off-the-shelf someplace-just can't remember where. Make sure you get shackles that are up to your (or buddies) winch pull. I would consider 8k lbs (4T) rated the minimum. |

Interestingly, most of the off-road parks don't allow welded D-rings. They must be bolted with grade 8. And yet, many factory D-rings are welded. Go figure. |

Shackles were from Lowes, $8/ea and a local machine shop made/welded the bumper parts for me. Although I knew the guy and expected to be treated fairly, he over-charged the crap outta. So much so I'm embarresd to say how much.

I don't know what you paid, but just thinking how long it would take me to lay out, drill, cut, and finish those in a one-off project, I'm going to guess at least an hour. My time isn't usually worth too much, but any machine shop will be at least $100/hr and some quite a bit more. I don't think the guy that made them probably thinks he charged too much and why it is almost always best to find something off-the-shelf. A lot available online (but I like the looks of yours better). http://www.jcroffroad.com/mm5/merchant.mvc...ct_Code=DIY-DRT http://www.comp4x4.com/Heavy-Duty-Weld-on-...unt-d-ring.html These are the one's on the butt of my 3B-1" stock

Well since ya put it that way, I guess the buck and a half he charged me sounds more reasonable. He spent well over an hour on 'em and did a little spot welding on another part of the front bumper too. |
